Cheaply "Renovated," Poor Management
We moved here because it was located between Mesa and Downtown Phoenix (work/school), but we have been anxious to move out ever since. We were promised a "renovated" unit, but the "renovations" were horrible, poorly done, cheap fixes that are falling apart and which look awful. For example, the "hardwood floor" is very cheap laminate which is so uneven and bumpy it looks/feels like you are walking over hills. Everything hung on the walls (lighting fixtures and mirrors in bathrooms, for example) are completely off center and visibly crooked, and instead of replacing the old cabinets, they were painted a horrible brown color and just had new faux wood grain doors placed on top. Everything, from a distance, looks "renovated" for photos, but it is all falling apart up close.
Other cons: The neighbors/neighborhood is also very sketchy, and we have had to purchase pepper spray due to feeling unsafe walking around; management is completely incompetent and cannot fix even small issues; our first floor unit requires you to walk down stairs to enter it (partially underground), which feels more like a depressing basement unit for a ground floor price point; we can hear every tiny sound from our upstairs neighbors, which often wakes us up; the "gym" is the smallest room known to man and everything is always broken; the pool is often in poor condition and/or closed for maintenance with no notice given to residents whatsoever.
Pros: The complex backs up to a huge park, which was the main selling point for us. The walking paths are endless and amazing, and there is a disc golf course, basketball court, volleyball nets, and even tennis courts within walking distance. We also have new appliances (the only good part of the "renovation"), which work well, as well as a smart thermostat which helps with our A/C bill.
Overall, even for the price, would not recommend at all. There are much better complexes in safer areas with quality management. Not worth it at all - we cannot wait to move out.
