The Belmont Apartments reviews and highlights
- well-maintained gardens, track, and grills for public use
- clean apartment complex with a great location, facilities, and environment
- spacious and affordable with timely maintenance staff
- very quiet community and neighbors
- plenty of room for storage
- slightly older complex
- nice gym
- free parking space
- great value for money
Bang for your buck
The apartments are pretty old and initially upon moving in, will likely not be cleaned very thoroughly. Pretty good value in terms of cost per sq ft. Bathrooms are old looking but not the worst. Some units are all carpet in the living space so it's not the best but overall not the worst. Good amenities for the cost but gym doesn't have that many machines if you're big into lifting. Really convenient for med students because of the LaSalle Loop right outside the complex that takes you directly to TSCHE. Improved security and good lighting at night. Maintenance is pretty fast. You can definitely hear people walking around upstairs though so it's not great.

Good value for money.
The Belmont is a good option, and probably the best value for money in town. However, facilities start to be a bit dated. The difference with newer complexes is huge. It could definitely use some updating.

Pretty good for close to campus!
Had some security problems last year, but haven't experienced anything this year. Very responsive management.

Great
I think my rent is lower than many of my friends apartment complexes. The reason why is because these apartments are a little older (appliances, etc.). However, I don't mind. I really like the outdoor spaces we have (a large pond, with a walking trail, etc.). Also can walk to school.

Hard to find better
First, the rooms are nice and comfy. They are higher in quality than many of the surrounding apartments, but are considerably cheaper. The neighborhood amenities are also great (clubhouse pool, gym, coffee, wifi, etc.). I think the two biggest draws to the Belmont are its location and the quality of service. First, the location is incredibly close to campus and is near food outlets. Second, the maintenance team and the package lockers are massive perks for everyday living. My biggest qualm is that rent continues to increase, so I would hope to lock-in a longer term lease sooner than later.

Belmont Experience
My apartment itself is great. I live close to campus, and I love the complex -- nice pool, great lake/trails, grills, picnic tables, gazebos, etc. The leasing office has team meeting rooms and is overall a great convenient place to study. However, the apartment itself has ancient appliances and constantly requires maintenance -- or so it seems like. Maintenance stays super busy. The Belmont management is sub-par and won't go out of their way to help you. Belmont has had issues with security, too. It's a quiet property though, and I have lots of graduate students living around me, too, so it's been overall a good place to live other than the maintenance issues.

Homey apartment with lake
The Belmont is pretty quaint with a really beautiful lake that's a great reprieve. It's very close to campus so you can walk, or the bus stop (both Durham and Duke buses) is right out front. The apartments aren't brand new, but they're fairly nice quality inside and a lot spacier than the brand new apartment buildings (my apartment is >800 sq ft for roughly the same price as a ~400 sq ft apartment). The office is somewhat helpful but can sometimes appear apathetic. There's a lot of security, you get an alarm system and a panic button, and there are patrol cars at night. However, we still had two armed robberies (from the same two robbers) which was really disappointing and scary. It seems that they caught one of the two robbers, and the Belmont increased their security by quite a bit to help.
