Capitol Hill

Filled with Historic Museums
Capitol Hill used to be known as the place for the wealthy upper class of Denver. Nowadays, this neighborhood features historic mansions and is no longer an exclusive town. There are condo buildings and apartments scattered throughout the town. Capitol Hill boasts a trendy atmosphere and personality attached to it. Concert venues, hip stores, and clubs give the town an active and lively nightlife. There is a punk community within Capitol Hill that likes to hang out at East 13th Avenue. For anyone that fits this niche, there are stores and shops specifically targeted to the hipster crowd. The neighborhood is heavily populated which favors those who would rather walk or bike than drive a car. The dense population can make parking a nightmare, but the constantly moving residents of Capitol Hill help give it a strong personality.

A trendy neighborhood like Capitol Hill has plenty of hip cafes, bars, and restaurants for the locals to enjoy. They are loved by the people who live in town and the variety of choices makes it all the better. Restaurants that the locals recommend checking out include City O’ City, Pieology Downtown Denver, Torchy's Tacos, DiFranco's, Mizuna, and Angela’s Tavern. For drinks on a fun night with friends, bars in the area include Pints Pub, Stoney's Bar and Grill, Pub on Penn, and Sancho's Broken Arrow. All the hip and trendy hotspots in the town of Capitol Hill make the neighborhood an especially great town for the younger crowd. It is never a boring night at Capitol Hill.

Capitol Hill — 7.6/10 Rating (based on 11 neighborhood reviews)
The neighborhood is lovely and full of things to do. There are coffee shops, bars, restaurants, and grocery stores. It's full of young families and adults and is pretty diverse. I don't have a car so having so much within walking distance and being close to major bus lines is essential. Sometimes it can feel a little sketchy so I don't love walking around alone at night, but even then there are plenty of people out about walking their dogs and such.

Okay, I love Capitol Hill, but it is not everyone's cup of tea. There are beautiful churches, restaurants, and you're right next to Cheeseman Park. That being said, in this part of the city, there is a homelessness issue and that sometimes comes with certain things. I've never had a concern for my safety, but I know others have felt uncomfortable. If you're comfortable with city living and all that comes with it, this is a great place.

I absolutely love living in Baker. It's a central location, close to Santa Fe and I25, and the proximity to Broadway is amazing. This is a great place to live if you're looking for a neighborhood with a historical, residential feel within the city.

Some restaurants nearby and great access to the light rail station if you actually use it. As a woman, I wouldn't feel safe walking here around after dark.

Cap Hill is a great neighborhood in Denver. Very close to downtown, but still has a neighborhood feeling and unique culture. Still easy to get out into the mountains fairly quickly, and quick access to Cheesman Park. Great neighborhood for pet owners, it seems like everyone has a dog here.

A decent number of good bars and restaurants, even if they are kind of spread out. There's also every kind of grocery store (including a great Trader Joe's) and a lot of other kinds of shops.

Kind of an expensive neighborhood, including a lot of really expensive houses with some very wealthy families. This can mean the neighborhood politics can be a little closed-off sometimes, especially when it comes to helping people in need and with unhoused people.

Cap Hill is perfectly in between everything for me. A little over a mile from LoDo and a mile from South Broadway it is easy to get to where things are happening, especially on a bike. My ride to school is pleasant along the Cherry Creek trail and through Wash Park.
