Midtown
Buzzing and Diverse Collegetown
Located Southwest of Downtown Nashville, Midtown offers a buzzing Nightlife, shows, and rock gigs. With a variety of bars and parks, there is plenty to do in this district. It is both walkable and lies near downtown making it very convenient as a living option. Midtown is home to Vanderbilt University, creating a huge student hub. It bolsters popular attractions like the Parthenon.
The crowded and diverse clubs, and laid-back bars/cafes offer a pleasant student and professional environment, as well as a vast green space.

Midtown —
8.8/10 Rating
(based on 166 neighborhood reviews)
I am on the border of Midtown and Music Row so it feels very safe here, there is not tons of traffic which is nice when walking around and even driving whenever I get out in my car, and there is plenty to do with a bunch of restaurants and bars. There is even an outdoor concert every Monday at one of the bars across the street, so I can open my windows and just listen to live music when doing homework - I love it!

The immediate surrounding neighborhood is up and coming. To the Southwest Centennial park is an amazing walking area that provides a great and safe place for people and pets to get some exercise with beautiful views. To the Northeast there are some rough areas that I would not feel safe walking at night time. However, I have never felt extremely unsafe.

This apartment is kind of between Midtown/Hillsboro, which is a great location to be in! Plenty of restaurants and bars in comfortable walking distance. Closest grocery store is a small Kroger that is about a 15 minute walk, or 7 minutes with a bus ride that is free with Vanderbilt ID. This same bus can also take you south to the Green Hills area (mall, Trader Joe's, more restaurants) and north to Downtown.

The neighborhood is very quiet, which I really like. West end avenue can feel a little less safe at night but overall I love that we are so close to a starbucks, Walgreens and grocery store as well as the school/hospital/gym. Easy to live here if you don't have a car/don't want to use it as well.

I love living in midtown! Walking distance to bars like Winners/Losers, Kung Fu, Broadway Brewhouse, and Tin Roof/Green Room as well as from restaurants like Hopsmith, Slider House, Mellow Mushroom, and Taco Mamacita. It’s also a well-lit, green area that’s perfect for running and walking.

Not really any issues here I can think of. It can be difficult if family/friends are visiting on evenings and on the weekends, since public parking in the street gets filled up pretty quickly. Otherwise there's lots to do near the area, with many places only a few minutes away.

I wouldn't want to live in any other neighborhood in Nashville. This neighborhood offers a good amount of restaurant and bar options while also maintaining a feeling of safety and quiet. It is a happy medium between a big city feel and a suburban town.

Unless you're really into the strip down Elliston, you'll most likely be walking, Ubering, or driving to other locales to do things. Lots of restaurants and bars in the area (Thai Esane, Division bars, Virgin Hotel roof, Patterson House, Tailgate brewery, hot pot, hattie B's, new Velvet Taco, Chuy's, Tin Roof).
