Hillsboro Westend
A vibrant, boutique neighborhood
Close-by to local universities, Hillsboro Village features a community lined with local retailers and restaurants. Very walkable, and situated between Vanderbilt and Belmont University, it creates a lively urban environment. With music playing 24/7, 365 a year, Music City lives up to its name.
With restaurants like Joey's House of Pizza, Monell's Dining and Catering, and Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse, alongside a great collection of shops and boutiques, there is never a dull moment downtown.

Great for young adults and students. Great walking space for pets, compared to other apartments closer to Vanderbilt, and the commute to school is very reasonable (although, traffic on West End varies). Great shops and restaurants are close-by.

There are no problems with the neighborhood other than noise from the hospital. The overall neighborhood (if you would call it that) is not affordable. Most places in this area cost 1400-2000/ month per studio. There is access to transport, but it is not always super reliable. There is a shopping center near by and a grocery store.

I am obsessed with this neighborhood. I love easy access to the shops on 21st ave (Fido's, Jeni's, Hopdoddy, now a Crumbl cookies!!!). I am also a runner and love the surrounding neighborhoods I explore on my running routes through this neighborhood- many of which are cute houses with families, Belmont area if you want a walk around their beautiful campus and surrounding areas. Overall very pleased with this neighborhood.
It does not feel safe 100% of the time (mostly late at night), but for the most part it feels friendly and safe. I say this because in three years I have been here, we have had someone break into my car as well as someone try to get into our apartment. These may be random, isolated incidents, and is probably 'safe' relative to most big city/urban areas! Keep reading

The neighborhood has felt pretty secure to me while I've been living here. It's nearby a school, and there is a park close-by. It feels like a little bit of an escape from living in the city because there are so many trees around us.
My commute is about 10 minutes, and there are lots of shortcuts from here to there. Traffic has not been too bad thus far, but I would leave extra time for the stoplights (they are a bit long). Keep reading

Great neighborhood. I run here all the time, even a night where I usually just run into families or people walking their dog. While the area near 21st and the medical campus is mostly apartments, after a few blocks it transitions to single family homes.

The neighborhood is kinda bougie and the park nearby is always busy and friendly with food trucks every Sunday. The houses on Fairfax ave (one street over) have professional holiday lights that are nice to walk by! I enjoy walking so my commute is a bit longer (30-45 mins). I walk to the N lot and take the shuttle the rest of the way. Occasionally I drive which takes about 15 mins total if you include parking and walking over from the garage.

Hillsboro is a great neighborhood, especially if you like coffee, brunch, and small shops. Finding affordable apartments with good quality can be hit-and-miss here, but they do exist if you look hard enough. It's just the right distance from the law school – close enough to make access easy but far enough that you don't feel like you live your entire life in one half-mile radius. Since a lot of your life will revolve around the law school and Midtown, it's nice to live in a different neighborhood to get away from the noise, construction, and traffic.

The Hillsboro Westend location has been great for my time in the program thus far! I am able to walk to a bus stop about 10-15 minutes away so that I do not need a yearly parking pass (I pay for daily parking if I need it on a clinical day!). This location is right next to the highway, multiple grocery stores, and 21st Street where there are lots of fun restaurants and shops. Would highly recommend this area!
