Bethabara Park

Great Location Near Campus
Lying in the heart of Wake Forest University’s grad student life, Bethabara Park can’t be beat for its great near-campus location. This area was first settled over 260 years ago when a small group of Moravians established a religious village and trade center. It is now home to picturesque Historic Bethabara Park, a 183-acre wildlife preserve with over 126 species of birds, active archaeological sites, a reconstructed colonial village, and lovely gardens. It is also a perfect neighborhood for students and professionals looking for a bit of quiet away from the bustle of the city. Residents find all they need right around the corner. For grocery shopping convenience, there is a Lowes Food grocery store, and when working out is a must, there is a Planet Fitness gym. Reynolda Gardens-Wake Forest is a scenic spot for taking a stroll through beautiful landscaped gardens. For a bit of culture, there is the Charlotte and Philip Hanes Art Gallery, which holds a fantastic gallery showcasing different art pieces.

There are plenty of places to grab food or a drink, and socialize in the area. Restaurants include Kotta Japanese Grill, Mama Zoe’s, El Triunfo Restaurant, and May Way Dumplings. Young people often enjoy drinks and apps at bars such as Putter’s Patio and Grill, Burke Street Pub, The Tap, Second & Green Tavern, and Hutch and Harris Pub. Bethabara Park is perfect for people looking to be near Wake Forest University with plenty of action nearby.

Bethabara Park — 8.2/10 Rating (based on 54 neighborhood reviews)
There's nothing special about the neighborhood, but it's quiet and really centrally located. There's a Harris Teeter and a Lowe's (grocery stores) literally around the corner, and we're about 10 minutes from Trader Joe's and other shops most of us frequent. You can't really walk around the neighborhood for exercise (no sidewalks), but you can definitely walk around the complex. We're also very close to Silas Creek Pkwy, which is a major thoroughfare through town, which makes getting anywhere pretty easy.

Once again, this neighborhood is great if you are looking for something that is not super busy and want to be super close to campus. If you want to be closer to downtown this neighborhood may not be for you

Close proximity to several grocery stores (LIDL is walkable, Harris Teeter, and Lowes Foods). Generally not a walker/biker friendly-area and not a lot of restaurants nearby.

Lots of great local food options, as well as some nice chain restaurants when I want things fast. Three great grocery stores, but Harris Teeter is the best.

The apartment is next to Wake's campus (from the shuttle picking me up and me being in classroom its about 10 minutes) and you are in a sheltered forrested area, but the local grocery stores are not great. Don't love the neighborhood.

Because the complex is in a gated community, there is not much interaction with the surrounding neighborhood. However, there is a connected path to the neighborhood where you can walk from Crowne Polo to Wake Forest within 15 minutes. I have always felt safe when I walked through the neighborhood. But of course use best judgement.
