I have very little bad things to say about Shoreland--management is responsive, the location is ideal (CTA picks you up at the building and goes straight to the law school; buses that run downtown are 2 blocks away), the rooms are pretty spacious, and there is someone at the front desk 24/7.

The building staff is all very friendly and helpful, and responds to any problems quickly. I love the neighborhood around shoreland-- it is very quiet and right by a nice lakefront park. The units are nice and updated (in unit laundry is a huge plus) and overall I have no complaints! My rent was raised 2.5% after the first year, which seemed reasonable.

The building is really nice and management is always very responsive to maintenance requests or other issues. The "gym" in the building only has a few machines and free weights, but it's not too bad for what it is. The 24-hour front desk person/doorman is nice. It's also nice to be able to receive packages. The building is pretty pricey, though. It costs more than I'd like. But it's also nice to have an in-unit washer/dryer and dishwasher. The walls are also pretty thin.

The apartment building itself is not so bad, but the management company is horrible. They are consistently unreliable and unresponsive. When they do finally get around to doing repairs, the repairmen are rude and the work is shotty at best. They can never seem to fix even the simplest thing correctly the first time.

I've lived at the Shoreland for all three years of law school, and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. The apartments, recently renovated, are beautiful -- nice fixtures and appliances, very clean, and very comfortable. The location can't be beat; the 171 bus stops right outside and takes me directly to the law school. MAC Property Management has its well-documented issues, but the staff here at the Shoreland have always been friendly and helpful.

The Shoreland is a great choice for incoming law students. It is near the 171 Bus, and is student-friendly. The rent can run a bit high, though, so students on a tight budget might wish to consider another building.

The building is really nice, there's always someone at the front desk, elevators are always in order, the staff is really cordial. Sometimes the management and staff don't know certain information. Also, I live in a 2-bedroom with a roommate. She took the master bedroom and so pays slightly more of the rent, but even so my room is tiny. And for what I'm paying I feel like the spaces should be bigger. The free internet is also somewhat slow. It's reliable but when my roommate and I are both streaming video it can be slower than you'd want. All in all I like my apartment because it's convenient, newly renovated, and feels safe. But it may not be worth what I'm spending compared to what I see some of my classmates paying.

I share an apartment with a roommate at Shoreland. It's a pretty good apartment and the best part is that we have the washer & the dryer in our apartment.

Positive experience mainly because of how low-maintenance it is. Spacious, clean rooms. Definitely not as social as Regents because there's not as many law students, but it's still close enough to everything that you're not too isolated.

The new appliances, spacious living spaces, washer & dryer in unit, and relative quiet all make the Shoreland a great place to live. Living at the Shoreland makes up for living in Hyde Park, and I would recommend it to anyone.
