A good place

Good place to live in. The administration is not the best but I wouldn't change my decision of living there. The location is wonderful, 5 minutes by shuttle from school. You also have public transportation very close. You can take marta busses to go to midtown, also to downtown decatur where there is also a subway station that takes you everywhere. From grocery shopping, publix is 5 minutes a walk, you'll also have several restaurants by walking less than 5 minutes. If you have a car you'll have up to 2 spots for a 2b2b apt.

Close to Emory, Good Value

Gables Montclair is about a 7-15 minute drive from the medical school, depending on traffic. There is an Emory shuttle stop within walking distance that can be used to get to Emory if you don't have a car. The apartments are pretty spacious and the rent is reasonable. There are several shopping complexes within walking distance with a few restaurants, Publix, gas station, and a Petco, but there aren't many bars or things to do nearby. There is a gym with minimal machines and equipment. Maintenance is usually responsive to things that need to be addressed. Overall, a good place to live for first/second year.

Grad Student Haven

Quieter neighborhood with a mix of students, families, and even professors. Parties won't keep you up all night. Just across the street from lots of restaurants and a grocery store. MARTA and Emory shuttles a 5 minute walk away. I love my floorplan as it is a 1 bedroom + a separate office, which is perfect for having guests or working from home. High ceilings, nice finishes. Maintenance responds quickly. It would be unaffordable as a student if I did not live with my partner. The noise can be a bit loud from the street if you are facing Clairmont—I definitely could not "relax" on my balcony and mostly used it to store bikes. Not gated, but very safe—never felt afraid taking my dog out alone in the middle of the night or was worried about things left in my car.

Gables Montclair

I have had generally positive experiences here with my husband and our dog. Management has been attentive and they agreed to freeze our rent during COVID prior to it being a requirement by law. Have been very responsive to repair requests, etc.

Gables Montclair: convenient, close by, and comfortable

Great experience living here. I have had friends live here for the past 4-5 years, they have all had positive experiences. 3 Emory shuttles have stops really close by. There are restaurants, coffee shop, supermarket, gas station, laundry, package store, UPS and FedEx office, among other businesses within walking distance. I have survived here without a car. 15-18 min walk to Emory Clairmont Campus. 20-30 min walk to campus.

Comfortable living with convenient location

Pros: Units are quite large, free parking, conveniently located a block from shuttle stop, close to Publix and restaurants, may receive a giftcard during move-in special, proactive about pest control spraying common areas every week
Cons: Pool and gym are lacking, package room still in early stages so may have to follow-up on packages, office takes a while to disburse move-in reward

Brice Floorplan

Gables Montclair has been a generally good experience. My only issue was problems getting maintenance in to do work. After speaking to the property manager, however, it was done the next day. I never hear my neighbors and there are a good mix of students, professors, and families. Would recommend, especially the Brice floor plan, which give you a whole separate office/ guest bedroom.

Getting around Druid Hills

Druid Hills Reviews

Druid Hills is the home neighborhood of Emory, the CDC, and lots of other areas. It is also close to Midtown, downtown Decatur, Inman Park, etc. so a good time is never far away. Lots of restaurants and grocery stores. The university provides lots of activities. Plenty of parks and walking trails if you know where to look.
Druid hills is historic and full of parks and sidewalks. Super safe and exercise and pet friendly. Best part about where I live is the location
love the neighborhood. amazing parks, families, houses, lovely place to be and walk
Beautiful hilly neighborhood with lots of forested parks and quiet streets for runs and walks. You are a 10-15 min walk to the restaurants at Morningside and to Emory village in the opposite direction. It's not close to the beltline, Piedmont, or many of the restaurants/bars you'll find closer to Midtown, but it's quiet and good for students at Emory.
The Druid hills neighborhood is residential and you'll need a car or rideshare to get to most retail areas. It can be quite if you have good neighbors and is typically a safe neighborhood. Gables Rock Springs has experienced some break-ins over the past 6 months while I've been living there, but I don't know the circumstances and haven't experienced it myself.
Lots of great restaurants, driving is decent around here (for Atlanta anyway). I have 2 Publixes, a Target, and a Walmart within 10 minutes of me. I would highly recommend.
Emory Point is basically on campus so the atmosphere is very similar to other areas of Emory, with more shops and restaurants thrown in.
There are a lot of families who live in this complex. Numerous pet owners too, and a wonderfull green area for everyone to play and have fun in. We are right across the street from the Clairmont Campus.
