Garrett West reviews and highlights

- updated, open floorplan
- complex management is fantastic -- they respond quickly to requests
- lots of light in the apartment
Quiet Safe Space
I live in Garrett for 5 months. It's a quiet space, 7-minute drive to the west campus, and the wellness facility is a little simple if you need a good gym.

Garrett West
I personally enjoy living at Garrett West! It is nothing too fancy, but my roommate and I enjoy the pool, ample parking and trash valet. A lot of fellow 1L’s live there as well, so it is nice to have that sense of community. The apartments are walk ups with no elevators, so beware living on the third floor, especially for move in/out.

Garrett West
Garrett West is a great place to live. The management is responsive and helpful and the community is safe and has some nice amenities. I would recommend asking for an apartment away from the pool, as the children at the pool get loud in the summer time. Additionally, some of the other comparable apartment complexes have much better gyms than Garrett West, so if that is a high priority for you, I would look elsewhere. Overall, I really like living at Garrett West and would recommend it! My apartment is spacious with lots of storage, all appliances are new, the kitchen and bathroom are very nice, and it has a nice large balcony. It is close to Target, Walmart, and a couple of Grocery stores, but you would definitely need a car to get from Garrett West to work or school.

Good
GW is a nice quiet little community of law and other students from both Duke and UNC. There are also families and retirees here. The location isn’t very walkable but nothing is too far a drive from here.

Great place to live
It’s a ten minute drive from campus but a really nice place to live.

Affordable and close to Duke
Great experience here. It’s a quieter community that has a lot of grad students, young families, and medical workers. Not a good fit if you like hosting parties or are loud. Neighborhoods nearby are great for walking/running/biking. Only an 8 minute drive to Fuqua and very short drive to lots of retail and restaurants.

Enjoyable Place to Live
Garrett West is a community that provides nice amenities at more reasonable prices than downtown or ninth street. The location is convenient because it's located halfway between Chapel Hill and Durham. The location provides easy access to campus and numerous shopping options, however, living here requires a car. Management is responsive and the facilities are kept in great shape. It's a great place for people looking for a quieter community. It might not be as attractive for people looking for bars and restaurants nearby.

Great but not cheap
The staff is friendly, the amenities are excellent, and the units are top quality! I absolutely recommend living here if you want to be close enough to the medical campus (~10 min drive) while still feeling like you’re away from the hustle and bustle of a college town. The rent is on the high side, but with a roommate it is totally worth it.

Quiet and Convenient Community
Well maintained apartments with responsive management. Amenities are kept up well, and the complex is quiet with walking paths. Lots of couples and young families. Apartments are clean and spacious with basic finishes. Would recommend to students looking for a convenient alternative to 9th street. A car is a must for this complex.
