Ashbrook

Great apartment. Nice layout with a lot of space. Quiet area too. Have had no problems with management, pests, or neighbors in a year and a half here.

Mold issues, but responsive maintainence

The apartments themselves are a bit older--even the upgraded ones are a little rough around the edges--but the value is great. The floorplans are spacious and the surroundings are very beautiful and green.

Great apartment, disorganized property manager

The apartment is great - fully updated, lots of light, and lots of space.

The management company carries out repairs quickly, but aside from that they don't do a good job. All announcements are done last-minute.

Pay luxury rent rates without any benefits

Dated buildings, common areas (pool, patio, grill) are always littered with garbage.

Awesome apartment and awesome management

We've lived in managed properties for the past 10 years in a variety of medium and large cities, and Ashbrook is by far the best-managed property we've ever lived in. Repairs are done the next day, calls and emails are answered quickly, and the people in the office actually care about helping when we have any problems.

We're also very satisfied with the apartment itself. It's spacious, comfortable, gets plenty of light, the renovations were done well, and it looks quite nice. Our neighbors are quiet and the apartment is very close to school, grocery stores, etc. The amenities are not as fancy as other complexes, but we actually prefer that since rent is also more affordable than at places with 2 pools and a huge gym. There still is a small gym, a decent pool and a tennis court, so we don't feel like we're missing out on anything.

Overall we're very happy with Ashbrook and would recommend it without hesitation.

Quiet and great value!

My fiance and I have lived in Ashbrook since we moved down to NC from Boston. It's been great! We've even convinced a couple of our business school friends to move here after they've had poor experiences at other apartments in the area. It's quiet, but friendly. The apartments are nice and updated but not overly expensive. Parking, washer/dryer, dishwasher, etc. is all included. We wish it was a little closer to downtown Carrboro so we could walk (we still do sometimes- it takes about 30 min), but that's really the only negative.

Quite, serene place in the woods with a stream nearby

Pros:
1) Proximity to a complex having Food Lion, Subway, Rite-AID, Aidan's Pizza, Burger King, etc.
2) Walking distance to Carrboro plaza which has a dry cleaner, dollar store, salon, ATM, UPS, etc.
3) Many great bars and restaurants nearby and the bus stop is right across the street
4) Washer and dryer included in apartment

CONS:
The distance from school can be a bit too much if you don't own a car. The bus frequency is good from 8 am to 9:30 am. After that, one has to wait for an hour or so.

Great renovated apartments in Carrboro

So far my experience at Ashbrook has been great! The apartments are all renovated with new appliances and is 100% electric (no gas). The layout is great for roommates (separated bedrooms, each with an attached bathroom) although I use one bedroom as an office. Every apartment includes a porch or balcony and has a storage closet off of the patio. Management has been very responsive and always replies promptly to requests. They allow up to 2 pets per apartment, although they do charge pet rent ($25 for one, $35 for two). The only downside has been a small number of classmates living here so the social life isn't the same as some other popular complexes, although Autumn Woods is right down the road with lots of Kenan-Flagler students for carpooling and social events. Carrboro is a great alternative to Chapel Hill with a more artistic, neighborhood vibe and the downtown is only a mile away from Ashbrook. Hopefully this becomes a new hot spot for Kenan-Flagler students!
