Solid Living Spot

This has been a great spot to live in for the past few years. The price is great of the area. The building does not have many amenities but it does have a roof top pool. The only downside is the rooftop hours are limited and there isn't that much space to hang out. I would like to see carpet in the bed rooms and additional lighting for night time. A ceiling fan in the bedroom would also be a plus. Parking in the building is expensive and can be difficult. The elevators are not always the most reliable.

The Best!!!

I live in the cheapest option in 8200 and I still really enjoy it. I live by myself so I don't need a lot of space. The building feels new and modern. The best thing about it is the location. It can't get any better than central Bethesda with a few blocks from the metro as well as fancy restaurants and shops. Neighbors are nice and well-behaved. Nothing to complain.

Great location and value; a little disorganized

Good: Walking distance to plenty of bars, restaurants, and metro. Spacious rooms with plenty of light. Responsive, helpful maintenance crew (though we haven't needed much maintenance). I love having a rooftop pool during the summer (though I wish it were open every day and that access to the rooftop extended beyond Memorial Day to Labor Day). You cannot get these sized rooms in this area anywhere else in Bethesda for the money.

Not as good: Parking is limited and an additional $150 a month. Most people pay for a city-wide parking permit to park across the street, which isn't very convenient. Kitchens are small with hardly any storage. There aren't many communal gathering spaces or community-building events; which can make living in a high-rise feel a bit isolating. The building has been going through renovations, which overall seem to be fine; however, notices of the work to be done have been disorganized and last-minute at times (to be expected when dealing with any construction), and the work has been a bit disruptive (can't use the entrance closest to our parking garage on below-freezing days of winter; water has gone out twice without notice; etc.)

Just Okay

8200 is a good value, but you get what you pay for. The rent is really reasonable for the location. However, the building itself is on the older side. There are currently tons of rennovations going on, which is good and bad. The facilities will be much nicer after, but it is not so fun living through the noise. Overall, this is a good building if you want a reasonably priced place in Bethesda.

Great location, awful management

My apartment is not terrible. It is in a good location, I have lots of room, and a nice view. The doors to the balcony are not sealed, so I get a nice draft in the winter. The kitchen is small and there is only one drawer. There are only three cabinets. Guests have to go through my bedroom and closet to go to the bathroom.
The building has been undergoing a renovation project that was supposed to be finished late 2014/early 2015. It is still ongoing and quite the nuisance. I moved into this building because of the concierge, however now guests must wait outside until I come downstairs to let them in. There is no phone system to "buzz" them in.
Rent increases are a joke. Yes, they stick to Montgomery county guidelines, however it is quite frustrating to see my exact same apartment offered for the same price as when I moved in two years ago.

Old building with lots of issues

Elevators don't always work. There are so many renovations occuring over the past year, management doesn't make any concessions for this. Guests have to wait outside for you to greet them. Package acceptance is nice, but can only retrieve during 9-5.

About Bethesda

Bethesda is technically located in Maryland, but it's more of a DC suburb and is not far from campus. There are grocery stores, department stores, and other suburban necessities within a 5-10 minute drive. Many bars, restaurants, and additional shopping are also close by. Despite all there is to do,...

Getting around Bethesda

Bethesda Reviews

I absolutely love living in Bethesda and I'm so glad I ended up living here. If you're wanting to live somewhere that's walkable, and where you don't need a car, then Bethesda just might be your place. I will note, it is more "city" esque so if you don't like that feel, then maybe it isn't the place for you (that's the only reason why I took off a point was because of the occasional noise, especially in the mornings). But I absolutely love the walkability to all the shops, restaurants, grocery stores, farmers market, etc. I really couldn't ask for much better.
The neighborhood is a long way from campus (25 minutes on the metro), but it is very livable, with everything in quick driving distance. I love having a grocery store, a Target, and other suburban necessities within a 5-10 minute drive. This isn't possible if you don't have a car because the metro isn't walking distance, but there is a bus stop and it is bikeable. It's pretty quiet since the apartment itself is situated in the middle of an office park, which is nice. Plus, there is a very nice, upscale mall about 3/4 of a mile from the apartment. It's a good walk to get out and about on a weekend for a weekend lunch and some shopping.
I am a single mother with an older dog that requires constant walking. I’ve never felt unsafe at any time of day or night. It’s a family friendly town for sure, with lots of events happening right downstairs from me!
Safe area and close to many restaurants and shops as well as the metro and grocery store- Giant across the street. Trader Joes is close by as well along with Safeway and CVS. Main con would be parking for guests but there are public garages that are free after hours on weekdays and free all day on weekends.
Bethesda is a great place to live. Close to the metro, lots of restaurants, some bars, and some shopping! Still a few great, local mom and pop shops, although the bigger commercial stores are moving in quickly! ( Williams & Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Kate Spade, etc.)
The Metro is about a 10 minute walk, but the Circulator will take you there or to two grocery stores. There are so many restaurants, nail salons, and hair salons in this area. It's really not very noisy considering the fact that this is a busy downtown area.
Much quieter than Bethesda row, and it feels much more like a neighborhood without sacrificing proximity to amazing restaurants. The main negative is the walking distance to the Metro, which is not bad at all if the weather is nice.
I love Bethesda. It’s a family area.
