Great location in southern Evanston

Great place. Right across the street from Trader Joes. New building, every unit comes with an underground heated parking space and a storage unit. Well maintained building, controlled access, on-site super. Ride my bike to Kellogg everyday, takes 6-7 min.

Excellent Quiet Location

Living here is great for people who want a spot to escape the Kellogg bubble. It's super convenient to be next to all the grocery stores, and the commute via bike is very easy. The residence itself is extremely well maintained and spacious. I am next to the tracks, but I never am bothered by the trains (all my guests concur).

Best value in town

Best value - right across from Trader Joe's and Jewel Osco. A bit of a walk but well worth it and saves a lot of money.

Great Condo to live in…

Great condo to live in. Has an amazing indoor pool and gym in the top of the building, with lots of natural light. Great rooftop also for the summer. If you have kids, the indoor pool is a great entertainnment for the winter. Interior quality is very good, almost new. Lots of natural light. Trader Joe's right accross the street and Jewel Osco only half a block away. Strabucks half a block away. Evanston Public Beach 5 blocks away. Kellogg is 8 min if your ride a bike and 18 min if you walk. Campus shutlle goes by Chicago Ave, which is useful and intercampus shuttle has a stop just 2 blocks away which is also useful if you are taking any classes downtown. Parking inside the building with heating, which is also very useful in winter. Building personnel is great, every issue we had with the apartment was solved within 2 days max. Washing and drying machine inside the units. Because many retired people live in the building, it is very quiet and the ammenities are always free.

All the amenities for less

Spacious, modern, and comfortable condo building that was a gem off of Craigslist. Most of the units are inhabited by owners, so finding an open one can be hit or miss. Unit comes with the amenities of an E2 or an Optima building (W/D in unit, parking space, gym, pool/spa, event space, rooftop deck, private unit balcony), for $200-300 less per month than these buildings. Also great for chefs - Trader Joe's across the street, adjacent to Jewel Osco, 0.3 miles from one whole foods and 0.5 miles from the other. The only downside is that it's 1-mile from campus. I walk on nice weather days, and take the bus/El/Uber on bad weather days (unit is a block from the Dempster stop so a total of 0.4 miles walking to the Jacobs Center after getting off at the Foster El-train stop). Overall a very quiet and comfortable retreat from the chaos of an MBA program. Especially nice for couples and families.

Great value, but a little far from campus

Chicago Avenue Place is located extremely convenient to most of the errand-type amenities (Trader Joes/Jewel/Whole Foods within a 1-block radius plus restaurants, Starbucks, dry cleaners, etc.) although its location is farther away from Northwestern/Kellogg than the traditional downtown arrangements. It's about an 18-minute walk to the school and if desired the Intercampus Shuttle picks up ~1 block away; the purple line Dempster L stop is also immediately adjacent. The building includes heated underground parking, a pool/hot tub and small building gym which is never crowded. The management is extremely responsive when issues arise. The unit has a great modern look (~10 years old construction) and all the standard appliances/features.

Dewey-Darrow Reviews

The neighborhood has a good number of restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques, and they aren't overcrowded by undergrad students. As soon as you step a block or two away from Chicago Ave, it is quiet and residential.
This is a family-friendly neighborhood with many parks, stores, restaurants, and other small businesses. There are panhandlers in the neighborhood, but they generally don't cause many problems. The proximity to many forms of transportation is very convenient.
Quiet and convenient neighborhood. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes, stores, etc., including some local businesses, especially near the intersection between Chicago Ave and Main St. There are stations for Purple Line and Metra trains.
Its safe, has good restaurants nearby, the supermarkets are very close and train station is just there. The only thing against is that the bars are about 20 mins or 30 mins away
All of Evanston's grocery stores in one place - Trader Joe's, Jewel Osco, and both Whole Foods. A bit further from Kellogg but still convenient.
This was more residential than I thought, did not feel like I was living in the city at all. close to transport.
Located on Chicago Ave a little south of downtown Evanston. Directly across the street from Trader Joes and next to Jewel Osco. Starbucks across the street, plenty of small shops, dry cleaners, hardware store, bike shop, gas station, etc. Everything you need is very close by.
Great access to public transportation (CTA station, intercampus shuttle, bus), bars and restaurants (Starbucks, Union Pizza, etc), supermarkets (Jewel Osco, Trader Joes and Whole Foods all in 2 blocks). Not too close to campus, but 8 min if you ride a bike.
