Great place to live in Old Town, Alexandria

I have lived at Belle Pre for more than four years now, and I love it! It is super close to the metro (about a 7 minute walk), with about a 30 minute metro ride to Foggy Bottom. We have a pool, gym, and enclosed parking. Our building is pet friendly, and we have made some great friends through our dogs. The building is new with hardwood floors in living spaces and new appliances. We also have 24/7 concierge service and on demand maintenance for any issues.

Great apartment in Old Town Alexandria!

Absolutely love living at Belle Pre. Alexandria is a great place to live if you are interested in having a more relaxed, settled-down community than living in the city, but you still want to be super close to all there is to do in DC. Would definitely recommend a car to get to the grocery store and other things in Alexandria, but we are only about an 8 minute walk from Braddock Road Metro. Belle Pre has all the amenities you need, including a gym, rooftop pool, and underground parking. I have been here for almost three years and love it!

Great Building

Our room faces the courtyard and is on the side of the building that never receives direct sunlight (at any time of year). Because of new restaurants/shops being added to the floor level, the fire alarm has gone off at least 3 times in 6 months because of required testing (once as late as 10pm). Aside from this, the gym is great and we are in walking distance to the metro, as well as King street. Staff has done a good job in offering social activities for residents. Also, it is a very pet friendly building, in walking distance to several dog parks. We had several issues with our appliances after moving in, but maintenance took care of them within a day. Overall, I definitely recommend this building.

Quiet, Great Storage, Great Location

Location - the building is only a block from Braddock metro and about a ten-minute walk from King Street with other restaurants in between

Safety - I feel safe walking my dog around the neighborhood by myself as a mid-20s female

Sunlight - Lacks greatly in our apartment which faces the courtyard

Pets - Awesome pet washing station in the basement, many free poo bags and trashcans set up around the building, many pets in the building - the pet rent AND deposit suck

Interior - high ceilings, great appliances

Gym - clean and useful

Service - Responsive, especially maintanence

Great place to live

Amazing place to live, close to multiple grocery stores such as harris teeter and trader joes. The people in the building are amazing, especially the staff. you have to be okay with dogs, there are a lot of dogs in the building but theyre all very friendly and i personally see the dogs as a huge plus.

Great experience at Belle Pre.

My entire experience living at Belle Pre has been great from the beginning. Management is responsive and helpful. The amenities are incredible. Clean, modern gym, AMAZING rooftop and pool, game and movie room - it's all there. Even with the occupancy rate very high, it never feels crowded.

Getting around Old Town

Old Town Reviews

36 reviews
I love the neighborhood. Although Old Town is in the suburbs, it feels like like a mini city, and almost everywhere I want to go is within walking distance. There are great restaurants and bars a few blocks, we're close to the river, there are multiple parks nearby. There is a Whole Foods a block away from my building, and it takes me less than 10 minutes to walk to the King Street Metro station. I also have a dog, and there are so many dog parks and dog-friendly businesses in the area.
Pros:
- Safe, nearby grocery store, pet friendly, pool, close to restaurants, diverse in income types and styles of homes, etc.

Cons: Section 8 housing, a lot of people for a tiny pool.
Lots of new development populated by yuppies and hip new businesses/restaurants, mixed in with pockets of section-8 housing and shady groups of people walking the streets.
Absolutely love it. So many friendly people and fun restaurants, coffee shops, stores, etc. Feels like you are apart of a community and very easy to meet people.
Public transportation is excellent. Really don't need a car. Holmes Run Park great for running and bicycling. Restaurants, shopping and malls within 5 miles.
Close to DC and other Virginia cities... good public transport... not as young and fratty as Arlington but still plenty of social opportunities... Love it
This is an awesome area. It is lots of fun to explore and a nice change from being in the city for school all the time.
Old Town is great! So many restaurants, bars, shopping, parks, and hiking. Easy to walk to all the shops on King Street, and super close (walkable) to two metro stops, Braddock Road and King Street. Commute to Foggy Bottom via metro is only about 30 minutes, and it is a straight trip on the blue line from Braddock Road to Foggy Bottom-GWU.
