Latrobe

Overall nice apartment building with updated appliances and in unit washer/dryers (a game changer for me). There can be hidden fees for things like package services but the staff is nice and it's only a 20 minute walk from campus.

Good place to live

The location is really awesome but it does make for a decent commute to McLean. You are super close to lots of restaurants, grocery stores, etc.
The best part of the building itself is the roof with the grills but it does not have a pool. You do have access to the pool at the Holliday Inn across the street. The apartment itself is really nice, the one thing I wish is that the kitchen was bigger. The gym in the building is not great, the tv's on the machines don't work and the gym is small.

Logan Circle Gem

The Latrobe is a great building, but definitely on the more expensive end. They're undergoing a ton of renovations right now that will be completed by the summer updating the gym, the lobby, each hallway, and the roof. The roof is SO nice- you have a clear view of the Washington monument and Georgetown and is the perfect outdoor spot. The location is super ideal because most places are just a 10-15 minute walk away.

Great Location, Reasonable Price

Rent here costs a few hundred less than nearby locations. The roof deck is amazing and provides great views of large parts of DC, including the Washington Monument and the National Cathedral. The apartment has an updated finish and looks nice. The maintenance staff does a terrific job of fixing any issues and is very friendly. However, the heat goes out from time to time in the building, so you may have a few days a winter without heat. Overall, I would recommend this building in a great location.

Ideal Location

The Latrobe is just steps from some of the best bars and restaurants in DC and walking distance to the National Mall, White House, and many other popular attractions. Although not very close to the Metro, you can walk nearly anywhere in the city that you would want to go.

The Latrobe has a perfect location.

The Latrobe is a really young building. There is always someone sitting at the desk by the door so I always feel safe. My apartment is spacious and nice. Maintenance is regularly available for when I need them.

Why live here?

Managers and the desk staff are changing all the time. You can never get a straight answer about all the rules and one person will tell you whatever s/he thinks is correct to get you to go away. Serious cockroach problem in the whole bldg and leaks.

AIMCO has been great

The Latrobe is a great apartment building. The apartments are small, but you cannot beat the location. Management has recently been shuffled around, and all the new management is very helpful. One thing that disappointed me was that on top of the rent and parking that I knew I was going to pay for, I am now being charged $50 a month to cover rodents, electric for common areas, shared water, and heat for common areas.

Great apartment, Adequate management

I love the apartment and the location, but in the last 6 months, the people who work there have been constantly changing and never know what's going on. The roof deck is nice. The gym is pretty tiny, but decent. The biggest complaint is the fact they try to raise our rent by 10% each year, which is such a ripoff.

Logan Circle Reviews

40 reviews
Logan Circle is the perfect location! It's close to 14th St and P St and the up and coming Shaw neighborhood so you have tons of restaurants, gyms and shops in walking distance. You're also walking distance to U st, Dupont, downtown (Farragut), Metro Center and Chinatown so you are ideally located - can get to any metro line in 10-20 minutes walking.
I think this is the best location if you want to be in DC and work in McLean. Unfortunately, having to be close to the Silver line somewhat limits where you can live in DC (unless you want to transfer metro lines). While my commute could still take up to an hour, I think it is worth it because Logan Circle has so many great restaurants and bars. Also, I can very easily walk to a ton of other neighborhoods (Dupont, Shaw, etc.)
This part of town has gentrified drastically in a short amount of time. That comes with the good and the bad. There are so many developments going up that it has misplaced the communities that once lived here. However, there are still hip old tropes of those communities up and down U St and 14th St. Ethiopian dive restaurants, to great music clubs, and a safe, lively gay scene, this is a booming part of town.
Walking distance to several metro lines and going-out areas.
Logan Circle is my favorite neighborhood in DC for living and leisure. I have every type of grocery store within a 5 minute walk from my apartment, multiple gyms, and most of my favorite bars and restaurants.
Its is a fairly nice neighborhood with a lot of families. It is quiet and doesn't have almost any criminal activity. It is a great place to start a family
All you need is close by or within walking distance or a quick Uber. Good variety of restaurants and bars. Parks nearby and safe location.
Lots of restaurants, grocery stores, bars, and fun things to do. Not the cheapest place to live but a great spot to be in.
