StuyTown reviews and highlights
- quiet and safe community
- great for young professionals and young families
- peaceful oasis in NYC
- renovated apartments
- all utilities included
- great open space for Manhattan
- great location with immediate access to public transport
Great, quiet and nice place!
Stuy Town is a great place to live, and very affordable for living relatively close to 17th Street. It doesn't have the best sunlight, but is still pretty comfortable, and has good access to restaurants, shops etc.

Good Value
I love Stuytown - it's a 25 minute walk to campus, or there's an NYU shuttle that takes you from Stuytown to campus! The apartments are large for the amount of money you pay, and the renovated apartments are very nice. Plus, there's a lot of green area and outdoor space, which is great when you want a break from the concrete jungle. Good community for students and families!

Modern, spacious, and good value for NYC
Location: Good location, near the L train and east village (tons of bars/restaurants), less than 30 min walk to NYU. Quiet complex with trees; doesn't feel like you are in NYC. Right by east river, which is great for running. Area is safe enough.
Pros: The living room and bedrooms are spacious. The kitchen is small but modern with dishwasher. Elevators and laundry in the building. Price is great for the location but note that I live with 2 other roommates. Hardwood floors, AC, and heater.
Cons: 3 people sharing 1 bathroom. We're not home much so it works for us. The walls/ceiling are pretty thin. There is no doorman. Management can be slow to resolve issues. My bedroom was converted from the living room so not much sunlight in the living room (bedrooms get lots of sun though). L train gets super packed during rush hour.
Overall, it's spacious and affordable for the location if you are OK with roommates and 1 bathroom.

Probably Best Deal in City
Stuy Town is its own neighborhood above east village. It looks dingy from the outside, but from the inside, they are recently renovated apartments! Because it's a huge apartment complex, you get a large management company that has always on point with maintenance related items. They have the staff and resources to help tenants. It is also one of the safest zip codes in New York. They have their own patrol staff. The amount of space you get it for what you pay is fantastic. Best part? There's no broker fee!

Good for families
Open space, including playgrounds and turf fields. Parts of Stuyvesant Town are zoned for one of the best public schools in the city. One mile to Stern campus. Quiet.

Comfortable, updated, quiet
I've lived in my apartment for 6 years. It's safe, good value for the money though rent is steadily increasing and the apartment is a 2br converted to 3, the units are renovated before you move in though they use low quality materials. Building has laundry and there are dishwashers in unit. Sunlight is good except for the common area in the converted apartments. Management is pretty good with handling any sort of maintenance issue. I don't like that the only subway line nearby is the L train, which always seems to have issues. It's been a great place to live but I miss being closer to the hustle and bustle. A little far from a good grocery store/gym.

A slice of suburban quiet in Manhattan
The apartment isn't huge but it's not cramped either. The kitchen and bathroom are fairly modern, and maintenance services are always on hand if needed. The community includes elderly gems who remain on rent control and young families. There are huge trees and a beautiful fountain. A farmers market on the weekend. Laundry in the building. Basketball and volleyball courts and an ice rink. Why would you ever leave?
