Building Complex Review
The building is nice. Rent just covers the apartment, amenities cost a down payment of $600, but due to covid it has been reduced to $90. The building has study rooms, gym, roof top and pool included in amenities. Things that are extra fees aside from just rent are water, electricity, internet, parking, trash collection, and pets. Obviously utilities like water, electricity, internet, and trash collection need to be paid along with rent so keep that in mind. Other things like pets and parking would have to be requested. Payment is easy as it can be done online via a direct deposit. The building is also very quiet.
The location is good for commuting to school, ~15min walk. The surrounding area has lots of stores, restaurants, pubs, park directly behind the building, and local clubs. There is also a Target going up 14th street and grocery stores going down 14th street. It is very nice, however crime has also been relatively high recently, but I have never had any issues personally.
During Covid-19 they had been providing a free month provided in the form of credit, so that helped lower the cost of living a bit. The area in general is pretty expensive, probably because of all the places nearby and is close to the school making living near campus a pretty expensive.
I have had a few maintenance issues living here, one was pretty bad and unexpected, not the fault of the building, just pipes were backflowing causing a flood in my apartment. I brought it to their attention, I waited about 8 hours and nothing happened. I have to pester the management to get it fixed the same day. That was a bit annoying because it was a rare and extremely bad situation, but in the end everything was fixed. I also had an issue with management while getting a lease on the apartment. Overall, they don't seem reliable to me but the front desk has been pretty good at getting things done when the management team can't. I would recommend being persistent about making sure they get things done. Other than those 2 instances I have not had any issues.

Location and rooftop
In a great location for young, social people who want to live in dc. Has an awesome rooftop with a pool and full kitchen and amazing views of the whole city.

Great location and cool modern amenities
I have enjoyed my first few months at Capitol View on 14th. From the beautiful Chihuly sculpture in the lobby, to the modern style of my apartment, to the friendly and helpful management, it's been great. The location is great with a lovely grocery store underneath as well as an Elevate fitness center. No complaints!

Great building but Pricey
This building is great with nice amenities and a convenient location; the cost however is a little bit expensive, though unfortunately, in-line with comparable buildings; the management is fairly responsive and available; constant elevator issues which should not happen as a result of the cost to live here; some issues with too many guests accessing the roof/pool.

Expensive but worth it
This is a pricey apartment, but the amenities are great and the location couldn't be beat! It does get a bit noisy at night, but you are located by all the bars on 14th street! It makes brunch on the weekends a must! The apartment is gorgeous, although there are a lot of 20-somethings who live there, go to Soul Cycle... that sort of crowd.

Columbia Heights Reviews
Regarding neighborhood safety, there are occasionally shootings unfortunately. I have never personally felt unsafe even at night, but realize others might feel so.
If you value quiet, try to go a block or two away from 14th street (which is a popular artery for fire engines / ambulances / police cars - i.e. lot of sirens).
Con: Increasing amounts of gentrification in this neighborhood is increasing rent prices
