The Seasons touts itself as a luxury apartment complex, and does a great job marketing itself as one for prospective tenants.

However, the living experience is vastly different from what they claim it to be. I pay $80/month to park in a “secure” parking garage, which regularly gets broken into and has recently had both a motorcycle and a car stolen from it. It turns out that there are only two security cameras (at least that any of the residents could find) in the entire 5-floor garage, and according to the Seasons it is on residents to protect their cars because cameras are expensive. Suggestions to lock the most commonly used entrance for crime after a certain time it decrease how long the garage door stays up after entering have so far fallen on deaf ears.

They also advertise a 24-hr concierge, yet we regularly receive emails about how there will not be a concierge today, sometimes as long as 8 am to 10 pm. It’s not the lack of a concierge that bothers me (although it is irritating if you need to get someone moved out of your parking spot or anything else that is supposed to go through the concierge), but the advertising of a service they do not provide.

They also do not provide AC starting in the fall, which would be fine if they were not pumping excessive heat through the hallways and the buildings didn’t trap heat as much as they do. If it is 52 degrees outside, it is 72 in my apartment—with the heat off and all my windows open. My apartment finally went below 67 this morning, because I left the windows open and it was 18 degrees outside. Frankly, it’s quite irritating to be constantly sweating in my apartment even when it is fairly nice outside because there is no AC and the building keeps the heat in. I’ve also been advised to buy a swamp cooler for the spring by long time residents, because it apparently gets miserable and management will not turn on the AC again until the very last second.

And don’t get me started on the laundry room, where it costs $1.50 for a wash cycle and $1.75 for a dry cycle, yet somehow your clothes never get cleaned or dried correctly on the first go round and you have to pay to do it again. Multiple machines are constantly broken, with one dryer having a “do not use, will burn your clothes” sign on it for about a month now.

There are countless other things that don’t make sense in my apartment either: I have no overhead lights except in the kitchen, so I’ve had to buy a bunch of lamps; you can’t close my bathroom door without squishing in-between the toilet and the sink; and there’s no fan in the bathroom (despite there being a vent that does nothing in the shower), so you have to open the door while showering or water will start collecting on the ceiling.

The Seasons charges a luxury price for non-luxury living, and management refuses to do anything about it.
