Paying for location, but that's about it

The studio is located about a 7min walk to the Law Quad and within walking distance to Downtown Ann Arbor. It is mostly quiet and the downstairs neighbors run a local bike rideshare business, which means they're always around and help keep the building safe. But there are some issues that make me feel so dissatisfied to be paying $1,000 for a studio that came unfurnished, plus an average of $100 in utilities, and $75/mo for an outdoor parking spot. First, the parking lot has no lighting, making it pitch dark at night, this is more concerning in the winter with slippery icy ground and giant puddles of mud that one cannot see; the parking lot is shared with a few neighboring properties and often people park there without a permit. Management has not been very proactive on these issues and only come check permits during weekdays if one raises the concern. The apartment has some maintenance issues like lots of bugs coming in, pretty old ventilation system and low water pressure in the shower. It also seems to have a electrical voltage problem which causes my fridge to make a loud noise 24/7 and causes the lights to go dim when I turn on the microwave! It worries me that my appliances and devices will be damaged by the voltage issue. I think overall the management company does the bare minimum when it comes to the physical conditions of the building and ignores huge issues "because it's not urgent". It is so frustrating to pay such a high price to live un a subpar, old building.
