Great Location, Outdated Facilities

It has been a fantastic 3.5 years living at this residence with my two roommates. We continue to live there together because we love the location right near Oak street beach, mag mile, and the Clark/Division red line station. The building management is great, and so is our landlord, but the condo itself is outdated. The carpet is green and one of the walls is red tile. Some of the appliances don't work well or at all. It is a two bedroom that was converted to a 3 bedroom, so we have 2 wonderfully large living areas, but a very small and narrow kitchen and a simple door separating two of the bedrooms.

Low Rent but Not Updated

The location is great, but the apartment is not at all updated. However, for our total rent and square footage it is a great location. The fixtures are not updated and the carpet is a borderline bio hazard, as i think it's the original from the 70s. However, it's nice that it's a duplex in a high rise.

Gold Coast Living

We like our condo for the price. The rent is very low for the area. However, it is a foreclosure unit and the associate and bank were very slow. The amenities are not new. The carpet is filthy. The landlord is very nice, but just is not very proactive about repairs.

Gold Coast Reviews

The Gold Coast experience is a bit like two sides of a coin depending on your exact location. There's the supposedly infamous Viagra Triangle, but really, it's just all a bunch of ostentatiously wealthy people who literally mill around and block the entirety of the sidewalks all evening long. If you're more of an extrovert who has a lot of superfluous cash, that would probably be a fun place to be? I'm more of an introvert, so I'm happy once I pass Division (with its own subset of bars--again, there's a lot going on), and it's all architecturally stunning mansions and much quieter. In general, the most important thing that I can say about this neighborhood is that I have seen more dogs in this area at all hours than in any other city, period, and that's EASILY the best incentive to live in the Gold Coast.
I've lived in the Gold Coast for 12 years. I love the neighborhood, but it lacks new developments (that are under a million dollars per unit). The Gold Coast is as safe as you're going to get in Chicago. There are so many places and other neighborhoods that are in walking distance. Being on the lakefront, I believe the Gold Coast is the best neighborhood in the city.
It's right in the heart of it all. You're also really close to Navy Pier here, and it's a wonderful spot. Millenium park is a nice short walk away, and there's ALWAYS something going on.
Great neighborhood to live in. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping in the area. It's also close to everything, so it's easy to walk or take public transit.
My experience has been wonderful. I feel safe and there is always something to do, whether I want to go to a nearby festival or try out a trending restaurant or bar.
Gold coast is close to Division street and cool Gold Coast restaurants. We're a quick walk to the lake, shopping, and great places to eat.
Very quaint. Amazing homes and really close to RH Three Arts Café. Also a convenient walk to Old Town and Division St. Bars.
The Gold Coast is a great neighborhood and very safe. It's full of old people, but this building is very young.
