Some Amenities Made Living Here a Struggle

This apartment was ok. It was affordable and close to school. There was a small gym in the building w limited equipment so you couldn't always use what you wanted (i.e. on treadmill). My biggest issue with the building (and the main reason I moved out) was that you cannot control the temperature in your apartment. This meant that the heat would be blaring into May, and I would be paying to be very uncomfortably hot in my apartment. Also, management switched multiple times while I was living there, and it was not easy to communicate with them. They do have a beautiful roof and nice common spaces.

Homey apartment

Gold Coast City Apartments has great decor in the lobby and is connected to Dollop Coffee, which is a great spot to study or meet with friends. It's also close to Michigan Ave., so location-wise, it can't get better for the price. The rooftop is one of the best features, as you can see the lake and there is ample sunlight.

Great Value and Friendly Staff

Great apartment. Very spacious living room, good amount of storage and bedroom space. Hardwood floors in the living room/kitchen are nice to have, with carpet in the bedrooms. Very competitive price for the area and the staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly.

Enjoyed it!

Overall this place is a really good value for the price paying. The apartment came pretty clean and the living room is huge. The doorman are wonderful, and I like the rooftop and club room area as well. The one catch is the area isn't the most lively; and having one bathroom obviously comes with its downfalls.

Good Building

Employees are wonderful and the rooftop and club room are phenomenal! It would be nice to have a dog run, better gym, in unit laundry and cheaper utilities. The water pressure is not consistent, and the parking is very expensive. The hallways are also dark.

GC City Apt.

Fairly nice building -- old but renovated. Lobby is ugly -- the designer basically put everything from pottery barn in one room. Mgmt. is friendly. Great roof deck. Fairly low ceilings in units. Floor looks very utilitarian in units. Nice coffee shop in lobby.

Decent place to live

The apartments and rooftop/new amenities are very nice but the management it not very helpful and the utilities are very high based on heating, etc. it is an older building. They were very unhelpful when we had issues with our shower (didn't have hot water for about a month).

Perfect location for Feinberg, almost feels like a small slice of a college town because so many of your neighbors will be students, residents, nurses, etc at the hospital. You do get sirens fairly often depending on where you live since the emergency room is very close. The neighborhood doesn't have too many restaurants/bars but it is walking distance to River North and Gold Coast and the rest of the city is easily accessed by public transport. Much safer than most neighborhoods in Chicago.
Streeterville is a very nice neighborhood. There are plenty of parks and grocery stores. There is some late night crime due to the location downtown and close to the beach, but overall nothing worse than anywhere else.

There are some more expensive restaurants and fast food places. Navy Pier attracts a lot of tourists and they can be annoying to navigate around.
I enjoy living in Streeterville since it's near many of Chicago attractions without feeling overwhelming like in the Loop. I am able to walk around safely at night and I like going jogging in Millennium Park. My biggest complaint would be the lack of greenery in the area and how the city can feel a little bit insulating at times. Public transportation is great. This area is pricey, which is why I decided to have a roommate.
The Streeterville area was still pretty sleepy when I moved here three years ago. Since then, there has been an incredible amount of development. New luxury apartments and condos are going up, several new restaurants, a brand new target and Whole Foods. Its become a great place for professionals who enjoy living downtown, but without the club crowds in River North.
There are a few buses that are near by that help get residents down to the loop. Also it's pretty easy to walk around and the cross walks are pedestrian friendly. I'm always able to get around by foot and buses/trains. Streeterville is a very safe neighborhood and I've never felt unsafe walking around at night. The streets are well lit.
Noise is not usually too big of an issue in this neighborhood; it's pretty quiet at night.
There are multiple grocery stores nearby for multiple choices. Also there are a bunch of great places to eat so one will not get bored with options.
While on the expensive end in Chicago, streeterville is safe, has all the necessities (look for apts near grocery stores if you don't have a car!!), is super close to school (and most feinberg students so convenient for socializing), and is super close proximity to restaurants and bars.
This building is located in the center of everything you could possibly need. Whole foods and Jewel within walking distance, easy to get to the lake front, and plenty of good restaurants and bars. The only down side is that it does not really have a "neighborhoody" feel.
Love how close we are to the medical school, makes going to class really easy. A lot of students live in Streeterville so it is very easy to hangout with friends. There are also a few coffee shops in the neighborhood that are very fun to study at!
