Great experience at 850 Lake Shore!

My roommate and I chose this building because it's a 5-10 min walk to the Northwestern campus. We could not be happier here! The management office made everything super easy from the first tour. The amenities are amazing. The lake room and the conference room are perfect for studying. 24hr fitness center, pool, hot tub. The front desk staff are all super nice and attentive. And did I mention ROOM SERVICE??!? Thank you 850 for a wonderful time living here!!!

Hidden Gem in Streeterville/Goldcoast

The friendly and attentive staff make you feel valued from the moment you arrive. The elegant lobby sets the tone for the rest of the stay. The apartment itself has condo-quality finishes, and you don’t hear your neighbors. The breathtaking views of Lake Michigan from the rooftop add to the overall charm. The property boasts outstanding amenities, including a well-equipped fitness center and a rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the lake and skyline. The location is ideal, offering easy access to iconic attractions, restaurants, and shopping destinations in the city. The staff's dedication to exceptional service further enhances the experience.

Dangerous and traumatic place to live

This building is not safe and management does nothing to keep female residents safe, if anything they encourage the situation and put you at greater risk. Management and administration retaliates if you report or pursue safety measures.
I was stalked, sexually harassed, and groped by a door man during my second year of residence. I reported the incidents to management as well as my concerns that he was becoming more aggressive and lewd. Nothing was done, two weeks later her exposed himself to me and aggressively groped and assaulted me. Management and LARAMAR have been completely unsupportive and did nothing! He continued to work nights at the building even after the second incident took place and was reported. I ended up having to contact police and get a protection order; only when police came to remove him and following the protection order did the building management comply with the law, but still kept the individual on staff and asked when they could bring him back! This building's management team and LARAMAR are despicable-they allowed a dangerous person to work at their building and knowingly maintained a dangerous and traumatizing environment.

Wonderful Place

850 Lake Shore Dr has an indoor pool, and convenient washer and dryers. The thing that's nice about this place is that cats are allowed with no additional cost, but dogs are extra per month. We live in a great location close to shops, the beach, and really amazing restaurants.

Perfect location for Feinberg, almost feels like a small slice of a college town because so many of your neighbors will be students, residents, nurses, etc at the hospital. You do get sirens fairly often depending on where you live since the emergency room is very close. The neighborhood doesn't have too many restaurants/bars but it is walking distance to River North and Gold Coast and the rest of the city is easily accessed by public transport. Much safer than most neighborhoods in Chicago.
Streeterville is a very nice neighborhood. There are plenty of parks and grocery stores. There is some late night crime due to the location downtown and close to the beach, but overall nothing worse than anywhere else.

There are some more expensive restaurants and fast food places. Navy Pier attracts a lot of tourists and they can be annoying to navigate around.
I enjoy living in Streeterville since it's near many of Chicago attractions without feeling overwhelming like in the Loop. I am able to walk around safely at night and I like going jogging in Millennium Park. My biggest complaint would be the lack of greenery in the area and how the city can feel a little bit insulating at times. Public transportation is great. This area is pricey, which is why I decided to have a roommate.
The Streeterville area was still pretty sleepy when I moved here three years ago. Since then, there has been an incredible amount of development. New luxury apartments and condos are going up, several new restaurants, a brand new target and Whole Foods. Its become a great place for professionals who enjoy living downtown, but without the club crowds in River North.
There are a few buses that are near by that help get residents down to the loop. Also it's pretty easy to walk around and the cross walks are pedestrian friendly. I'm always able to get around by foot and buses/trains. Streeterville is a very safe neighborhood and I've never felt unsafe walking around at night. The streets are well lit.
Noise is not usually too big of an issue in this neighborhood; it's pretty quiet at night.
There are multiple grocery stores nearby for multiple choices. Also there are a bunch of great places to eat so one will not get bored with options.
While on the expensive end in Chicago, streeterville is safe, has all the necessities (look for apts near grocery stores if you don't have a car!!), is super close to school (and most feinberg students so convenient for socializing), and is super close proximity to restaurants and bars.
This building is located in the center of everything you could possibly need. Whole foods and Jewel within walking distance, easy to get to the lake front, and plenty of good restaurants and bars. The only down side is that it does not really have a "neighborhoody" feel.
Love how close we are to the medical school, makes going to class really easy. A lot of students live in Streeterville so it is very easy to hangout with friends. There are also a few coffee shops in the neighborhood that are very fun to study at!
