The Links at Kansas Review

Good but pricey for what you get
I've lived at The Links for my 5 years here in Lawrence. It has typically been quiet and clean. Maintenance has always come within 1-2 days of having an issue. My only issue is that when I first moved here in 2020 rent for a 540sqft, 1 bed 1 bath was $700, which was expensive, but I thought fair for Lawrence. It has gone up by around 10% each year I've lived here. I no longer feel it is worth the price and if I was going to be in Lawrence for longer I'd have to look for somewhere cheaper and probably less safe. I place a premium on safety so that would be a shame, but you can't have it all I suppose. Otherwise, I've really enjoyed living here, but I'm in a top floor apartment and know that it can be noisy if you're on lower floors. These apartments are pretty cheaply built.

Average Apartment
I've lived in this apartment for about five years, and overall, it's a great option for late undergraduate or early graduate students. As a graduate student, I appreciate being on the west side of town, away from the busy undergraduate scene. The location is convenient, with grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, the recreation center, and walking trails all nearby. I also feel very safe in this area.
However, I'm not a fan of the apartment's interior. The layout feels awkward, there's limited storage space (especially in the kitchen), and I'm not fond of the carpeted floors. The walls and ceilings are also quite thin, making it easy to hear pets moving around.
Additionally, while the complex has a pool, they allow non-residents to purchase passes to use it, which is problematic since the pool is already small. As a result, it's often crowded with kids and families. On top of that, residents are only allowed to bring one guest, and you have to check them in and out, which feels inconvenient.
In addition, the management and landscaping could do a better job maintaining the outdoor areas. The lawn and grass spaces are often neglected, and many pet owners don't clean up after their animals.

Excellent
They are always very receptive and quick to perform maintenance. The pool is very nice and so is the gym. The apartment has a 9-hole golf course, which is typically well-kept.

Overall good
Overall good experience. I wanted a space that was a way from the main student living areas, was quiet and safe. There's plenty of food, grocery stores and gas stations nearby and the complex is well-lit. There were some pest problems over the summer, but maintenance was very quick to respond and take care of the issue.

The links at Kansas
I moved here just this fall semester, after living for two years in a different apartment complex. I really like the links, despite being more expensive than other options, it’s worth the price. The management is responsive, most of the issues can be handled through online communications, the facilities are nice and new, and my apartment comes with a washer and a dryer. I have minor issues with noise levels, because there are a lot of people renting at this apartment complex

Awesome
This is going to be my third year living here and I have not had any complaints. Kinda far from campus but an easy drive to k10 and turnpike!

The Links Review
My experience at the Links has been good. I've lived here all three all years and don't have any complaints. My rent did get raised in the second year by $100. Other than that, no other issues. Management is responsive.

A little pricey but worth it
This apartment is great for someone who needs a quiet place to study and live. The complex is close enough to K-10/I-70 to make commuting quick, but not too close to be overly loud. This complex houses college students, post-grad students, families, and even some elderly folks, so there is a lot of variety in neighbors.
This isn't the cheapest apartment you'll find, but for what you're getting it's still a very good apartment. The units are new and have new appliances, you only really share walls with two other units, and you're in Lawrence. Topeka does not have the best renting scene, and this place is as close to Topeka as you can get without having to be in Shawnee County.
