Not great
Not very great. The gates to get into the parking garage break a lot and also have trouble getting help on the weekends for emergencies.

Great Location and Safe
The Venue is right by the top of campus and makes walking to campus for class or events easier than other apartments. The building is also very safe with a fully enclosed parking garage. There is also a gym, pool, study rooms, lounge area with games, tvs, and a billard table. There is a computer room with access to a printer as well.

Good housing
Overall good housing. Office and maintenance staff are very nice. Some sound from outside apartment but overall community is nice.

Lovely location, appliances, & Leasing Office Staff
This space is phenomenal, clean, and well-maintained by the Venue Team. Very close to campus and Highland Rd. (a 5 minute walk to the Parade Ground). I rarely hear my neighbors making noise while I'm studying or trying to sleep! This apartment/Leasing Office Team has made my transition into LSU as an out-of-state student so much easier.

Close to Campus, but...
The Venue is an incredibly poorly-managed property. First, the GM of the complex is not accessible to residents. Instead, you must go through their front office staff if you have questions or issues. Most of these workers are LSU students who are not qualified to be running a property, and as a result, they have been trained to just tell residents "no" any time they have any kind of request. In short, the service is terrible. Additionally, the property is way overpriced. Baton Rouge is a relatively affordable city and you can rent a small house for less $1200 a month. To pay the same price for 1/3rd of the space and terrible service is ridiculous. In short, don't be distracted by all the bells and whistles: The Venue is a horrible place to live and I would not recommend it to anyone.
P.S. It is close to campus. Not close enough to offset the negatives, but that was a small perk.

The Venue is disappointing, but only a 15 min walk to class.
Disappointing overall. Maintenance takes forever to fix things. I had a hole large enough to climb through cut in my bedroom wall to fix a leaky pipe. It took maintenance about 5 months to completely patch it. The pool is almost always locked even during the posted hours, and the "study center" is basically permanently closed now due to covid. Also, it's right next to the ghetto. I've been accosted by people begging for money when trying to take my dog out for the bathroom. Additionally, the magnetic lock gates break pretty frequently so it's open to anyone who tugs on the door.

The Venue at Northgate
I like living at the Venue, and I think that it is a pretty good apartment complex. It is in a great spot, and I can basically walk to the Law Center. (Though I drive most days). There are plenty of restaurants around too which is nice. It is pretty expensive, but I live alone and I know I'd have to pay a lot to live alone anywhere. One big gripe is that they started off providing cable and then stopped providing it mid-way through the semester, despite the lease agreement saying that cable is included. I never did get a straight answer on why it was removed, and that was frustrating. Overall though, I have liked my time at the Venue.

Close to campus, that's it
Upside: Close to campus. Gated parking deck/ entrances.
Downside:
My roommate had a hole in his wall (that the maintenance man made to fix a problem) for 6 months. One of our friends had a blue tarp over his roof that leaked for 4 months. The floors by the model apartment are really nice, but they aren't like that anywhere else in the complex (also, they just repainted and the paint is already peeling). We have a silverfish infestation that is not fixed by the bug-control people.
Parking can be far away depending on where your apartment is, and the guest parking is only on the 5th floor of the parking deck (no elevators) and on the weekends you have to get a pass for your guest to park there.
It is hard to get mail here. Sometimes amazon can't figure out how to deliver packages to the Amazon Hub in the complex and the complex can't seem to fix this problem.
The amenities would be nice, if they were open. We have had to buy a printer because their study room area (which included a printer) is closed.
