Its nice
The apartment itself is nice. I am in a studio apartment and it's pretty spacious for just myself. The noise level is not too bad. Walking to campus is easy, and the Whole Foods grocery store is right down the street.

Change in Management - Downhill
When I first moved into my apartment two years ago, everything was excellent (management; cleanliness of apartment; friendliness of staff and residents; communication; secure mail room; quick and efficient maintenance; spacious room, etc.). A new management team and company took over my apartment about 3-4 months after I moved in, and the quality has been declining ever since then. After the management change, there were various problems (decline in cleanliness of the apartment; poor communication and response to contact attempts; cars broken into in the garage; rent mischarges/miscalculations; issues with the garage gates, etc.). Most of the residents that I usually would see throughout the day have all left the apartment due to the rising issues. I've signed a lease at another apartment and will be moving in a few months due to the current apartment issues and the upcharge of rent renewal (rent would go from 1374 to 1818, not including the additional fees); the value of the apartment does not match the price. They focus more on putting together social events rather than the more important (to me) areas such as resident concerns. I will miss my actual room in the apartment (no complaints there at all), but I can't continue to deal with the management team.

Great value for the price and location!
1818 Church is within walking distance from campus (15 min) and close to midtown, downtown, and the freeways for easy transportation. The apartments are spacious and the area is much quieter than central midtown -- but still within walking distance. The management has hosted many fun social events including weekly happy hours and mini farmer's market popups but they can be unpredictable in responses when needed. Maintenance has always been fantastic though! The gym is very small and parking can be tricky, but overall worth the price and affordability. I have loved my time there and loved the various layout options. The current construction in the area has been an inconvenience, but once complete, the area should be better than ever!
