Close to school and town with decent amenities.

The building is close to campus, close to other students, and a reasonable walk to bars and restaurants. It is fairly spacious, had a gas stove, dishwasher, heat, and air conditioning. Downsides are the dated dishwasher and toilet, window A/C unit, loud heater in the winter, and thin walls when neighbors are playing guitar underneath the bedroom. Overall a good place to live for three years, but rent increases and loss of free parking have made it less attractive than it was. There are probably similar places for better prices in the neighborhood for those willing to look.

826 McKinley Avenue #1

Overall I've been happy in this apartment - while it's technically a studio, the bedroom and living room are partitioned in a way that make them feel like two distinct spaces. Biggest drawback is the kitchen, which is very, very small. I had to bring in a kitchen cart in order to have any counter space. It's also an old building - that wasn't a big deal for me coming from New York, but if you've been living in a nice, new apartment building for the past few years, you'll notice different. However, it's definitely a good value for the money.

It's also close to Ross, and generally takes me less than 10 minutes to get to class. I don't really know anyone else in the building, but a lot of Rossers live close by, which is good from a social perspective. The management company is also great - I could not ask them to be any more responsive.
