Landmark Apartments

I currently live with another first year medical student. We currently live about 20-25 minutes with traffic by car and about 10-15 minutes without traffic from the medical school. We have experienced some pitfalls with management and maintenance not answering. Due to COVID-19, we were not able to use the pool this summer and have not been able to use the gym either. We recently had neighbors move in above us and they are very nosy. We had a pest issue that seems to have resolved itself. I have always felt safe.

Very low budget housing but it keeps me cool in the summer and warm in the winter. And the neighbors are humble and I don't feel like my safety is ever compromised.

However:

Lots of marijuana smokers.

Fleas and roaches present (other unidentifiable species of insects).

Some electrical problems known.

Caulking in the bathroom and kitchen peeling.

Loud neighbors so I wear ear plugs all day to maintain my focus during the rigorous medical school curriculum.

The pricing is fair especially for Howard students 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The management company is beyond terrible and it is infested with mice and roaches.

It's ~15 minutes away from campus without traffic, ~22 minutes with traffic. Maintenance varies with response times. I get better results by contacting the leasing office directly. Parking is okay. Becomes full at night. Quiet neighborhood but neighbors can be noisy at times. There is a Pool, a small gym and a wifi lounge. Trash is free. Lived here for 2 years now. Just recently had a mouse problem but they immediately addressed it and sent out pest control. The buildings are old so heat and AC do not travel well into the bedrooms. Rooms are spacious and we have a roommate style apartment which is great. Overall, decent place.

rent is unbeatably low and people are nice, but maintenance is terrible and every damn thing in the apartment is contracted out so if you need any help, expect to be calling 5 other companies and being on hold for 45 min
