Brookland Press is a very pretty apartment and has wonderful amenities. The apartments themselves are really nicely built and have an industrial-like style to them. My cons would be that it’s definitely more on the louder side, lots of parties going on the weekend in the building, and the walls are pretty thin. It might take weeks for maintenance to get back to you. Other than that I do like living here and it’s right next to the metro stop and it’s next to a shopping center (Giant) and the CVS pharmacy. There’s also good food places like Thai, chipotle, smoothie king, dunkin’ donuts, popeyes and others. There’s a Home Depot too.

This has been a good place to live so far. It’s close to school and the apartment is cute. The neighborhood is alright though. It can get very rowdy in the apartment, there’s lots of parties and gatherings.

The building is on the south end of the Brookland neighborhood, near the Rhode Island Avenue metro stop. There is not much of a neighborhood scene close by (e.g. only a few restaurants and activities currently), but stores like Giant and Home Depot are a five minute walk away. The more developed Brookland-CUA metro stop and art walk are about a fifteen minute walk away. The new Bryant Street development zone is also about a ten minute walk away.

It’s a great building with lots of amenities (2 rooftops, a third rooftop that has a lot of greenery (mini park somewhat), gym, pool, game room, study spaces, bike room, etc.) but almost everyone has a dog so sometimes it can get a little noisy. Most of the time it is peaceful. The rent is low but parking is very limited. It’s about 10 minutes from campus. In the morning with traffic it’s about 15-20 minutes. Giant grocery store and lots of food places are right across the street. There is also a CVS, nail salon, etc.

I live in a one bedroom plus den unit. There is actually more living space than the 2 bedroom because the bathrooms are so big in the 2 bedroom units. The location is directly across the street from the Brentwood/Rhode Island metro so it's a straight shot on the red line to AU's campus but it's almost a 40 minute ride. However, I find that rent and the amenities included are much more affordable than closer to campus. Amenities include two rooftop terrace spaces with grills, gym and yoga room. There is a pool and a couple indoor common areas with space for entertaining (post-COVID of course). If you are a biker or runner there is access to the metropolitan branch trail that makes it very easy to get to Brookland or Union Station/NoMA area within a few minutes. The units themselves are only a few years old and have central air and heat with in-unit laundry. appliances are good quality. The maintenance staff is fantastic. Biggest downfall here is the property management office. They are constantly unorganized and understaffed. Complaints to the Kettler Management company about the generally bad customer service have gone unanswered.
