Harlem Living!
I love living in Central Harlem, where the neighbors are friendly and the food has a delicious African/Jamaican/Caribbean vibe. The neighborhood is quickly gentrifying, which means lots of new cute restaurants, bars, and shops. However, with gentrification comes increasing rent prices and a little bit of tension between the existing tenants (Harlem is historically black) and the new folks moving in (a lot of young white people). On an individual basis, though, people are super warm and friendly. At night, as a female, if I'm walking home alone, I am extra careful, as Harlem still does have incidences of crime and violence. Overall, it's an AMAZING value, relatively safe, and the apartments in this area are very spacious and filled with amenities.
