Spacious Apartment, close to Transit

I love how close this apartment complex is to the bus stop, plus I can bike to work using the Lady Bird Lake Trail if I want to with easy access. The apartment is spacious and I truly enjoy the openness of the kitchen area and the island. Makes cooking actually enjoyable!

Big, great location, but it is pricey

I've lived at AMLI South Shore for a month now and I have no complaints, aside from a loud neighbor above me. The parking is secure and the area is safe and kept in great condition. We also have an awesome rooftop with a view of downtown, but nobody seems to use it. I wish it had wifi up on the roof so I could work up there. My studio apartment is huge with tons of space and a lot of storage as well. I love living there and one wall is basically all windows. Only other complaint is that the washer/dryer was not included so I have to rent those. The gym/pools/dog park are awesome!

Great and near downtown.

It's nice and always clean, it's close by downtown and near the easy access to the highway. The apartment complex is pet friendly and there's a food truck near by, incase I don't feel like cooking I just walk over. The public transit is walking distance as well

AMLI South Shore is average at best. Great location but overpriced for what you can get elsewhere. The amenities are not amazing - all close at 10 p.m. except for the gym. I would love it if they had group fitness/ yoga classes, more resident events and pool and rooftop deck open 24/7. I have to rent a washer and dryer from a 3rd party company- something I feel a luxury apartment community should provide to their residents. In addition, no microwave. Appliances I do have are sub-par and break often. Again, average place, average service, average apartments. Best part is the location. Could be a lot better.

I've lived at Amli south shore for 2 years. I've never had a problem with the complex. It's close by downtown, walking distance to food trucks, a restaurant outside the building, walking distance to the bus and the boardwalk is my backyard. Great view and updated units

Great value!

I have really enjoyed living at the AMLI Southshore and would recommend it to anyone considering living near Downtown Austin. There is a food trailer park on-site with a few options and also a sports bar (Draft Pick) that I catch many NBA and NFL games at.

Great community

Pros - The location is great, right on Lady Bird Lake, close to Downtown and on the boardwalk. They are also very pet friendly and have a large dog park. The apartments themselves are nice - they offer a variety of great layouts, even some with a private backyard which is awesome and unique to other communities in the area. Cons - The amenities are not available 24/7 (except the fitness center), the apartment come with a washer and dryer hookup but no washer or dryer- I have to rent these from another company. The apartments also do not come with microwaves which I would assume to be a standard these days for a Class A property. The community offers some resident events but it would be nice if they offered a more regular schedule of events for residents to meet and interact with each other. Also, the fitness center is nice but it would be awesome if they partnered with a wellness company and offered group fitness classes like yoga, Pilates, spin, etc. to residents on-site. The rooftop deck would be perfect for yoga classes! I know the neighboring property South Shore District has a fitness program for residents and I wish AMLI would hop on board.

Getting around Riverside

Riverside Reviews

20 reviews
There's lots to do, eat, and drink right in the Riverside neighborhood, and getting to downtown or the East side is so easy if you want to do something different. Lots of great local spots to eat (mostly counter-service style), ranging from sports bars to Tex Mex to Vietnamese food. There's plenty of standard chain restaurants as well (again mostly counter service places). Being close to the Town Lake trail is prime. Some areas don't feel very safe at night, but most of the streets are well-lit. Police often patrol the area, which could make you feel safer or more concerned. Overall, a great area to live that is constantly improving!
Riverside drive especially the east part is relatively a new growing neighborhood. Grocery shops like Walgreens, CVS and HEB are nearby. It is also a relatively safe area and calm. It is close to UT campus with a 10 min drive only in normal traffic.

Moreover it is surrounded with the beautiful access to the river and lady bird lake.
Night life is a bit not much available and most of the action is in downtown of Austin which is very close.
Riverside is growing with many restaurants and grocery shops. There are some constructions going on and it is relatively quiet unless it is rush hours.
It is close to downtown and to UT campus.

Relatively less safe than downtown because of homeless people around.
Riverside neighborhood is a growing neighborhood with many restaurant chains and local tex-mex restaurants. Many gaz stations and many grocery stores. 15 min to UT and 10 min to Downtown with a quick access to the river trails.
Pros:
Close to Downtown and UT
Price is cheaper than other areas that are closer to UT
Plenty of grocery shops.
Calm area except on rush hours
Access to river trails.

Cons:
Homeless people.
Safety.
I heard Riverside had a less than perfect reputation before I moved here. I would say that the closer you are to the river the better you should be as it has also become a very desirable location. Riverside, as a neighborhood, is split by Riverside Drive, so try to find a place in the zone closest to the river. Also, prices are usually lower than in other areas closer to campus.
I really like how accessible it is to the other neighborhoods, given its location on the trail, but it is very new and they are putting up a bunch of new apartment buildings and the dining/bar scene hasn't quite filled out yet.
The path by the river is great if you like to cycle or run. I love running down to auditorium shores, using the outdoor gym and then running back. it's a perfect workout.
