Gables West Ave
You are paying for the location. Very close to the trail and other McCombs students. Easy commute to Rowling.

Description
We live in a two-bedroom unit with a loft so it is very spacious. We also have a fireplace, although we have not used in. The location is within walking distance to downtown so it is a very convenient and fun location. A lot of other classmates live in the building or nearby which is useful for group projects, commuting, hanging out, etc.

Pros/Cons
Pros:
1) The apartment is in an amazing location; right across the street from Trader Joe's, and across the street from the flagship Whole Foods.
2) We have a lot of space, and my roommate and myself each have a bathroom.
Cons:
1) The train that runs by is super loud, and definitely takes some getting used to.
2) The bus isn't always timely, and can be infrequent on the weekends/evenings
3) It's unfurnished, but that's common downtown

Good location
Great location but the train is loud and the apartment is your typical big box complex. Multiple service requests (but always prompt about fixing things), forgetting to let you know you have packages at front office, mandatory valet garbage charge, clowe to the train, but great between two grocery stores and access to all west 6th st bars

Gables West Avenue
This apartment complex isn't bad, nut for what you pay for living downtown, it is not worth it.
They don't have a concierge service and on the weekend it is hard to get your packages because the office has only one person and it is close for tours. The property is old and looks like it's falling apart. Their customer service isn't great and would not recommend Gables West Avenue to any future Facebookers; I can't wait for my lease to be up so that I can move elsewhere.

Gables West Ave
Best thing about the apartment is the location. It's near Whole Foods in DT Austin and walkable to most places downtown. The management is pretty unresponsive and apathetic and the rent increases a lot between leasing periods. They also change their policies (parking, visitors, safety, package reception, pool usage) a lot which is disorienting. Having DT parking is a great perk.

Wonderful Downtown Building
One of the best values for a downtown location. My particular unit is a 1 bedroom but also has a loft area that can be used as a den/bedroom/office. The building was recently upgraded and many of the finishes are now inline with other buildings downtown. The management has been really great to work with so far. The one downside would be that the train can be a little noisy - but I knew this going in (my unit faces the tracks).

Quiet apartment, can't beat location
The apartment complex is quiet at night, as there is little foot traffic that goes by. The trains can be loud if you face that side of the street (but someone who previously lived in a city is probably used to that noise!). Unbelievable location: one or two blocks from West 6th, directly across from Trader Joe's, one block from Whole Foods. The staff is super friendly and pets are welcomed.

Downtown Austin Reviews
The river, with the running/walking trail, and kayak rental spots is super closeby.
I would recommend it if you have no ties to Austin and don't really have an idea or preference on where to live.
