plumbing issues

1 management rating Reviewed by on

I moved into the apartment on September 29, 2023. Since then, I have been dealing with frequent and disruptive plumbing problems, which have continued despite numerous attempts to address the issue with the apartment management. Specifically, I have encountered recurring instances where water backs up from the floor and bathroom at random times throughout the day. These incidents have often required me to clean up toilet water, sometimes as frequently as three times a week and even at inconvenient hours such as 3 a.m.
I first reported these plumbing issues to the management in October 2023. Although the management has responded via email, promising to resolve the problem, no effective resolution has been implemented to date. I have documented the issues extensively, including taking photos and videos, which I have shared with the management as evidence of the ongoing problems.

Dissatisfied with Property Management

4 management rating Reviewed by on

I have lived onsite for 2 1/2 years (since opening) and within the first year, it was extremely peaceful. My unit is right next to gym and right next to stairwell. the gym is extremely loud and shares a wall with my son (whom is special needs - autistic and ADHD) which shakes my entire apartment and is EXTREMELY NOISY. I've let the leasing office know multiple times and there has been no resolve as the gym is 24/7. They've had to replace the gym floor several times.

My renewal came up this year as I was supposed submit a 60 day notice by June 5 if I was to leave and didn't receive the renewal offer until June 10th. I was told by the assistant managers that I would have 2 weeks to make a decision but was pressured by the office by day 3 to make a decision (very challenging to move last minute with a kid). I asked if there was anything they could do for the rent increase because if was unjustifiable due to the issues with how loud my unit is and didn't get that updated offer until July 8, and my lease end date would by Aug 8th. Very disheartening process and just stressful. Signed because a little less than a month is not enough time to search for a new apt, pack and move for me.

The noise has only increased since then and my son is now experiencing broken sleep patterns and disruptive behavior patterns. I inquired about transferring to a sister property and was declined and asked "WHY DID YOU RENEW IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM?!" by the regional property manager of this location. He was completely unempathetic and lacked compassion for my unique situation. Since the new lease has not started, I asked if there was a possibility to dissolve and was said that "that puts us in a weird situation as there is no time for us to find a new tenant for your apartment...we must stick to the lease as a lot of money would be lost".

And not to mention being next to the DART and homeless people being in the stairwell right next to my unit. I have a woman on my camera circling my door and attempted to enter it.

I understand business very well but this is just so saddening because this unit would easily be taken if I was able to get out of my lease. I pay so much money and can't enjoy my home nor do I feel safe.

New Management is Awful

1 management rating Reviewed by on

This building used to be great, I lived here nearly two years. They recently switched to new management (Willow Bridge) and everything has gone downhill since.

The building is not the newest and is not cheap compared to other newer ones nearby. Management is what made this place special and that is no longer the case. You can see their BBB reviews (Willow Bridge - Dallas, TX) to get a sense of all the shady things they do.

Horrible Management

RENTER BEWARE!!!
Under no circumstances, rent in this building. The management is horrible. Staff is a bunch of young kids who don’t know anything about running an apartment building. Calls/requests are never responded to. Phone is never answered. Dogs everywhere along with the poop.
Building manager is the worst. The company does not return rent deposits. Save yourself from a lot of stress!!!!

Don't live here

1 management rating Reviewed by on

We spent a year living at Elle West and still have friends who live here, but would highly recommend living at any other building in the area. You can get comparable monthly prices for significantly nicer buildings/management in the area. We now live at the Monarch which is 100x nicer, cleaner, and has more amenities for the same price. We had mold in our apartment at Elle for about 8 months which was never fixed. We had cockroaches, leaks, and broken hot water routinely while we lived there. When we brought it up to management, they were rude and dismissive. They also gave other friends in the building a hard time about transferring units and move-in/move-out days. They are a nightmare to work with if you can even get a response. When we began looking at other apartments, they all knew of the issues at Elle and have a bad reputation amongst other managed buildings in the area. Gables Park Plaza, AMLI, Monarch, Gables Tower, and a few other smaller buildings in the same area of downtown are all within the same price range and better quality by far.

Overpriced but great location

5 management rating Reviewed by on

Management changed a year ago and the place is now slow to respond (e.g., repairs, guest parking requests).

Location is unbeatable, but given the property age and lack of amenities, I would recommend elsewhere for the price. I know they reduced it, but anything north of ~$2,200/mo. for this place is probably too much.

They do offer Lifetime discounts, which is literally across the street, for around $180/mo. (phenomenal gym).

I'd recommend living downtown, or near downtown, 1st year then going further out 2nd year.

Great Location but Terrible Management

3 management rating Reviewed by on

The location is amazing, and for the buildings in the Seaholm area it's the most cost-effective of the options. But you get what you pay for... and that means the least amount of amenities, the worst building management, and constant maintenance issues (elevators especially). On the management issue, they've been openly rude to people I know and are generally not responsive unless you owe them money. There's no front desk, instead the building has many doors you can buzz into. This is great for personal accessibility but a nightmare for communicating to deliviery services or friends visiting. Also you have to get used to the sound of freight trains rumbling through in the middle of the night. The only reason I didn't move between Y1 and Y2 was because of the hassle of moving.

Altaire Apartments Review - A Resident's Perspective

6 management rating Reviewed by on

The Good Stuff:

Safety is Key: Living here, there’s an undeniable sense of security. You can sleep soundly, knowing you're in a safe spot.

Clean & Tidy: The upkeep is on point, and it shows.

Top-Notch Amenities: Waking up and grabbing that cup of coffee or hitting the gym without leaving the premises? Big plus! They also have a pool and several hang-out areas.

Fetch Experience: Now, I personally enjoy the Fetch Delivery system. It feels seamless, knowing my packages are safe and delivered at the time I choose.

The Not-so-Good Stuff:

Some Rules Feel Tight: I get it, rules keep things in order. But fees starting at $25 fee if your trash is left out early or later than the allotted times. Feels a tad much.

Fetch Isn’t for Everyone: While I’m a fan of Fetch, I understand the gripes. If you’re into ordering groceries or things outside of Amazon, the two-step process can be a hurdle.

Bottom Line:
Altaire has a lot going for it. The place is clean, safe, and stacked with amenities. Fetch is a gem for people like me, but I get that it might not be everyone’s cup of tea. I will say that my first year was better than this second year. They have new staff, and it is not the same. However, I still feel that Altaire is a solid pick.
