Zilkr On The Park reviews and highlights
- apartment building is clean and well-kept, and the amenities are nice
- common areas are really well maintained and the staff and residents are super friendly
- overpriced
- location is unbeatable
- management staff is pretty awesome
Great location but pricey!
I have been living at Zilkr for about 8 months now and I absolutely love it! The common areas are really well maintained and the staff & residents are super friendly. Can't beat the location either! I love having the pool & gym amenities and use them frequently. The building is dog friendly too, which is nice for my Baxter. The only thing that could make Zilkr on the Park better is a fenced in doggie area. I highly recommend this apartment!

Great location
I really like this place. I like the pool ( great people watching for ACL and Blues on the green) and the gym is a good size. The apartment is nice but not as big as I would have liked for two people. We don't have much extra storage beyond our closet and end up putting some random things in the kitchen cabinets. Overall I would live here again because of the location but I am not sure the value of the actual complex is worth the price.

A Year at Zilkr
So overall, my experience here has been pretty positive. The location is amazing, I really like my apartment, and for the most part the staff is friendly and helpful.
So again, the location is great. You're right next to Chuy's, and super close to all the other Barton Springs restaurants as well. I also love that I can access the trail just by stepping outside.
The building is new, and it's lovely. The interior of our apartment is really nice, and the community areas are great as well. I haven't been a super frequent user of the gym, but it's pretty much your standard apartment complex gym.
My only real issue here has been with theft/property destruction. We left a Halloween pumpkin outside our door for a day, and it got smashed down the hall. I'm pretty sure someone's dog peed all over our door mat. Packages keep getting stolen. And yesterday, my boyfriend's motorcycle got stolen out of the garage. As usual, the garage gates were broken that day, so he might as well have been parked on the street.
This is a very pet friendly community. There are tons of dogs here! There's a little doggie yard outside the parking garage, and of course the proximity to the trail makes it a great place for pets as well.

Great location, great management, overpriced
Just like everything in Austin, Zilkr on the Park is overpriced. The management staff is great, helpful and pretty awesome. The apartment building is clean and well-kept, and the amenities are nice; the gym is brand-spankin' new, the infinity pool looks over Barton Springs Road (though I wouldn't mind a larger pool that allowed for more guests), the community lounge area is fabulous and the outdoor fire pit and grill are mighty nice, too. But, still -- $2150? And that's going up this next year. We don't even have a balcony - sheesh. Not to mention small things: the washer and dryer are small stackables and freeze up, faux hardwood floors instead of the real deal and the granite countertops are certainly not real granite. My real gripe is that when the display lights (positioned nicely along the tops of the high kitchen ceiling) burn out, the management will no longer replace them. I'm supposed to have a ladder and these specific bulbs? (It's because they burn out so quickly and they realized that early on when people were constantly turning in maintenance requests to have them replaced).
The location is unbeatable; that's for sure. Zilker Park is literally your backyard and we are on the hike + bike trail. Right by ACL, Blues on the Green, Shady Grove Unplugged at the Grove, etc. And walking distance from downtown. The management is always offering plenty to do and partnering with local organizations to provide residents with great experiences, and it's definitely a very dog-friendly complex.
While my complaints sound nit-picky (they may be), for the price we're paying, I feel like I'm allowed to be.

Barton Hills Reviews
-walking distance to the greenbelt and zilker park (major bonus around ACL, FUN FUN FUN, and Trail of Lights)
-a little bit trapped because of the highway in times of high traffic. You only have one way out and that means Mopac
-you have to drive a bit to get to a gas station that isn't in Collingwood/Bee Caves aka more expensive than normal gas stations
-there are always a lot of people walking dogs so I feel comfortable walking and running at most times
