Claridge House

I have lived here for a little over two years. When I first moved in, I had a lot of issues with my landlord. The apartment was dirty, my carbon monoxide alarm kept going off, it needed to be painted, etc. But once I got all of those issues figured out, I haven't had a problem. My apartment is small, but super user-friendly. It has a huge closet and a giant window. The rent is great for this area, its a quick walk to Whole Foods, the metro, and the GW Law building. The building could do things to be safer. There is a scan-in on the front door, but pretty much anyone can get past it. There is a scan in on the doors before the elevator, but they only activate at night.

Great Studio Apartment

The room is spacious. The kitchen is relatively small but good enough to satisfy my cooking needs. There have sometimes been plumbing issues, but the apartment is very quick about conducting repairs. About a 10-15 minute walk to GW law.

Convenient to GW, many graduate students

The building is well maintained. The maintenance and management staff are responsive. Having a front desk to collect packages is nice. Utilities and amenities are reasonable. Many GW graduate students live here because it is close to the GW campus. The building is just blocks away from a Trader Joe's and a Whole Foods, and Georgetown is right nearby. The Foggy Bottom Metro is also a 5 minute walk away.

Overall, a very average experience.

The apartment was spacious and the doormen were friendly. The heating was too hot and the A/C not cool enough (ancient system), the building has mice and shows its age (early 1960’s) with creaky floors and thin walls. Management is awful.

Good place overall

This building is really nice. There is a concierge at the front desk 24/7 and you have to use a key fob to enter into the building, so it feels very safe. The amenities are also relatively good, there is a gym, laundry, pool, and a courtyard. Each apartment is owned by a different individual so some are nicer than others. The apartments are not very big, but they aren't terribly small either. The only issue with these apartments are the thin walls and doors. if your neighbors are making noise, you are going to hear it in your apartment.

Claridge house review

The management of Claridge house is excellent. Central heating is a plus and electricity and gas included is nice as well. Probably one of the more well blended units in terms of residents with a wider range of ages living here, however it can still skew towards GW undergraduates/post-grads which can make for some noisier units.

Lots of pretty row homes, walking distance to many restaurants, grocery stores, and my school. Lots of trees and a dog park near-by. Overall, very pretty and scenic to walk through, and also close to other neighborhoods and essential stores.
I like living in Foggy, it's easy to get to school but also is close to Georgetown, which is fun for food and shopping. The northern part of Foggy (near GW) is about 10 minute walk to Dupont too, which is great.
Short walk to Georgetown, West End, and Dupont Circle. Many restaurants nearby and close to metro so you can get to anywhere in the city conveniently.
Nice to be so close to school. Short walk from the mall and other tourist destinations. Bar/restaurant/night life scene leaves a lot to be desired.
It is really close to campus so a lot of GW folks live here! You can reach a lot of places on public transit.
Edge of Foggy Bottom bordering Georgetown - very safe and peaceful!
I personally enjoy the quietness of the neighborhood and its location within a close walking distance of campus, Georgetown, the water, and convenience/grocery stores. The neighborhood is also very safe, I am a woman in my early 20's and I have never felt unsafe walking home late at night near my apartment.
Foggy Bottom is a great place to live given the proximity to the law school. It's also within walking distance of Georgetown and Dupont Circle which are fun places to go out with friends and classmates. It's also has lots of bike racks for the Capital Bikeshare nearby, and the Foggy Bottom metro stop is a few blocks up the street.
