A downhill experience

It is a very student filled building, often loud patio parties on weekdays. Care for renters has gone down with the switch in management. They will nickel and dime you to the best of their ability.

Good location, fine amenities, terrible landlord

The building manager leased our apartment to someone else. He then lied about it, and placed us in an apartment that lacked the amenities we needed, and the reasons for which we had chosen this apartment. We did not find out about the different apartment and amenities until we arrived to move in. When we expressed our confusion and dissatisfaction, he suggested we find another building to move into. When we requested he remedy the situation with a rent reduction or free storage, he threatened us with a poor relationship moving forward and implied it would impact our quality of service at the building. The other staff are all amazing.

Perfect Location

Winston House is a great building for GW students as it is very conveniently located within walking distance to school, and I especially love that it offers 24 hour package reception. The gym could be better but I have other gym options available to me as a student so I really can't complain. It is a bit pricey, but not too far off from similar apartments in the area. Great experience so far!

Winston House review

My one bedroom is spacious and very close to the lawschool. Building is relatively quite, despite a large number of undergrads living here.

A pleasant experience

I adore my building, they have been slowly updating individual apartments. Despite living in an older apartment I have had no complaints.

Winston House

Overall good experience. There is someone at the front desk 24/7 - they are all very friendly and polite. Different layouts to choose from for your apartment. I love mine and love the balcony.

Renovated/Nice

Very nice building with comfortable and spacious apartments. My apartment is newly renovated. Very friendly and accommodating staff and management; they go out of their way to know all of the residents and help with any problems that come up with packages, lost keys, etc. 24 hour front desk monitoring. Prompt maintenance.

overall, solid

Solid place to live. Walking distance to hospital, starbucks, whole food, trader joes, metro in Foggy bottom (all less than 10 minute walk). Landlord is great and very responsive to concerns- fixes things immediately. Have never had issues. Nice gym, social room, and library. Overall great experience

Love this area, right near Logan Circle and 14th street which has so much good food and nightlife!
Amazing neighborhood. Close to GW and close to so much good food and nice restaurants.
Sometimes noisy, but the front desk quickly deal with it if you ask
Great, Safe neighborhood with great food and close to campus.
Foggy Bottom/West End are great for 1Ls -- you will get to know the area around school and you will be conveniently within a few blocks of GW. There are a lot of food options, but night life is lacking (though you're a short walk to DuPont and Georgetown). There are plenty of busses and metros around.
Good only in the sense that it is near the school, that you can receive warnings from the school and D.C. (if signing up), that you can be assured of safety generally even if coming in late due to pulling off night studies in the library. However, noise levels are high, so you can hardly study indoors at home because of people wanting to earn money in exchange for their loud and terrible performances. This means that you may ultimately end up outside for work or rest during morning/afternoon. Noise in the evening can be high too due to some people having gone drunk. Noise (some loud trucks and mostly machine sounds) and lights can be too much for sleeping deeply.
It's really only convenient because of how close the law school is. Otherwise, I would not live here. Definitely a business/corporate area that shuts down on the weekends. Not a lot of options for going out to eat unless it's either overpriced or fast food. The only grocery store that's walking distance is Whole Foods, which I personally hate shopping at.
The Aston is the furthest GW housing from the campus, so we had to walk more than any other student to get to class. We are also the furthest away from any Metro station, but still not considerably far when you look at the big picture. There are grocery stores, bars, and restaurants nearby which is a perk, but it is pretty noisy around here. But I guess that's anywhere in Downtown DC. There are always cars honking, ambulance sirens, etc. But the area seems pretty safe.
