Winston House Review

The management and front desk workers are great. There's always someone at the front desk besides on holidays, which is a nice safety feature. Gym is very small, but there is a library and community room. Rooftop but no pool. It's clean and no issues with pests. Air conditioning is not controlled. The apartment amenities like the fridge, microwave, washer/dryer are old but still work fine. Also, having a washer/dryer is great. Clean apartment and a good amount of closet space for one person.

Solid Place

I enjoy living at the Winston House. It is close to school and the management team is very nice. Whenever my roommate and I have had problems, the team has taken care of it in a timely fashion.

Close to campus!

Great location a 5 minute walk from campus (and the GW metro station). Also close to the Farragut North metro station (10-15 minute walk). The property has some issues like most old buildings do with occasional flooding and pest issues but is generally nice. I love having a gym to use but it has strict 6AM-11PM hours.

Good balance of campus proximity and proximity to DuPont/west end

The building is pest-free, and a nice halfway point between school and Dupont/ other cool parts of town, and is walkable to grocery stores. The apartments at the front, at least, have really good light and decent balconies. All the management functions are decently good, e.g. mailroom, front desk. Maintenance has been prompt. There is an unimpressive gym and rarely used communal space, and the roof is modestly furnished but nothing fancy.

Winston house

Experience has been good so far. We had appliance issues right after moving in and those were fixed quickly. Some promises not met in terms of getting new features in the apartment. Staff is very nice.

Solid price for location and value

Converted 1bed to a 2 bedroom.

Small apt, but with nice kitchen, roof access, and basic gym.

V nice place close to campus

While not the cheapest, it’s for sure cheaper than most places around and it is a huge bang for the buck. The gym is there, but it’s not big, and there is a rooftop with a beaut of a view. The units are nice with new flooring and new appliances. I have never heard my neighbors either.

Love this area, right near Logan Circle and 14th street which has so much good food and nightlife!
Amazing neighborhood. Close to GW and close to so much good food and nice restaurants.
Sometimes noisy, but the front desk quickly deal with it if you ask
Great, Safe neighborhood with great food and close to campus.
Foggy Bottom/West End are great for 1Ls -- you will get to know the area around school and you will be conveniently within a few blocks of GW. There are a lot of food options, but night life is lacking (though you're a short walk to DuPont and Georgetown). There are plenty of busses and metros around.
Good only in the sense that it is near the school, that you can receive warnings from the school and D.C. (if signing up), that you can be assured of safety generally even if coming in late due to pulling off night studies in the library. However, noise levels are high, so you can hardly study indoors at home because of people wanting to earn money in exchange for their loud and terrible performances. This means that you may ultimately end up outside for work or rest during morning/afternoon. Noise in the evening can be high too due to some people having gone drunk. Noise (some loud trucks and mostly machine sounds) and lights can be too much for sleeping deeply.
It's really only convenient because of how close the law school is. Otherwise, I would not live here. Definitely a business/corporate area that shuts down on the weekends. Not a lot of options for going out to eat unless it's either overpriced or fast food. The only grocery store that's walking distance is Whole Foods, which I personally hate shopping at.
The Aston is the furthest GW housing from the campus, so we had to walk more than any other student to get to class. We are also the furthest away from any Metro station, but still not considerably far when you look at the big picture. There are grocery stores, bars, and restaurants nearby which is a perk, but it is pretty noisy around here. But I guess that's anywhere in Downtown DC. There are always cars honking, ambulance sirens, etc. But the area seems pretty safe.
