Carolina Square

Couldn't be a better location. It's close to all of the restaurants and bars...no Ubers from Alta Blu or the Morgan. You can walk to Carrboro. Above the Target. There are other MBA students in here and you're a quick walk to the other apartment complexes where MBA students live downtown. Only problem is that there are undergrads in the building and they can be loud and disturbing from time to time.

Great Location / Bad Management / Poorly Built

On the positive side the location is ideal and the pool is great. The positives stop there. Management is unbelievably horrific. Where this building not in an ideal location in a college town every resident would have left given how generally incompetent and impolite the management team is. The building was poorly constructed and finishes like the floor move, lights uneven, elevator frequently broken, trash chute blocked, et cetera. I am glad I rented here for the location, but will be so happy to never deal with the staff or management company again.

Carolina Square

Nice location of Franklin with nice and new units. There are a good number of undergrads in the complex, but it is not unbearable. Management is far from great, and it can be frustrating to deal with them like most other apartments.

Worth it for me to live right on Franklin Street in the heart of Chapel Hill.
7-9 minute drive to KFBS.

Almost worth the price

Great units with nice finishes. Really good gym. Perfect location. Parking is very expensive. Management is subpar.

Great location / property management is not good

Carolina Square is a great choice for its location next to Franklin street. It is very easy to hang out with 1st year classmates in this location. It also isn't too inconvenient to get to school by bike or walking. Good amount of people here that have a car so carpooling has not been an issue either. Downside is the property management company running this operation is utterly incompetent. I mean utterly. While they have been good of fixing maintenance issues, the staff has totally messed up the parking situation for residents, often has to do lots of work on the building as they missed steps in the original build process, losses residents mail extremely frequently, et cetera. They are the worst management company I have ever dealt with, but that being said, the location is so great we are all staying here second year.

Great Building and Location But Pricey

Hard to get a better location and better amenities. Large, new gym that I've never seen more than 7 or 8 people in at a given time (usually just 1 or 2), and walking distance to Bob's, He's Not, and all other restaurants and amenities on Franklin. Living on top of a Target/Starbucks in addition to your gym and pool is obviously a wealth of convenience.

It's expensive though. On top of what's already one of the highest rents in Chapel Hill, you also have to pay for parking (~$125/mo) and your own water, electric, and cable/internet. Not to mention application fees and possibly move-in and amenity fees.

Brand new, I’ve loved it

Excellent location, staff is friendly and helpful, maintenance requests are completed same day. Can be loud depending on where your apartment is

Living near Franklin Street is amazing! It allows you to walk to restaurants/bars and making it feel like a college town. If you like walking to things, this is the place to be!
All the bars and restaurants are right here, it's a close walk to campus, and also to Carborro.
Walking distance to all bars and restaurants, living on the west end also walkable to Carrboro

10 minute drive to school and grocery

Borders a rough neighborhood behind Rosemary Street so must always keep doors locked and never walk home alone.

Depending on where you live it can be noisy with undergrads - steer clear of The Warehouse Apartments and Chancellor Square that are next to Bobs on either side.
I've loved that I'm walking distance to everything on Franklin Street and that I've been able to engage with more of the greater UNC campus than my peers in the MBA program.
Walkable to most restaurants and bars. Not on Franklin St, so not as much noise but Rosemary St. can still be pretty busy.
Perfect if you want great access to bar/restaurants and to be around other students
Close to everything! Bus line, downtown restaurants and bars, grocery stores.
Best area of chapel hill with restaurants, bars, lots going on
