I believe that living at Regents Park is a great option for me since it is near UChicago, and I have other friends from the LLM Class living in the same building. The neighborhood offers good options for food and shopping; however, not as many as you would find in the downtown area. The Regents Park building provides utilities such as a gym and laundry. On the other hand, the building is a bit old and needs maintenance from time to time. When I moved in, as another person passed down the apartment to me, I had to ask them to clean the vents and paint the walls. They did it very quickly.

Regents is great

Quite a decent place to live. Most LLM students choose Regents Park - so it is a good option if you want to live nearby and close to your friends.

The gym isn't the best and the package room has been a mess, but I can't hear my neighbors and it's really to get to the law school from here.

Regents Park apartments are the bang for your buck. Naturally, you end up spending less than you would living in the loop and you get a nicer apartment in a safer and quieter neighborhood that’s almost on-campus.

I highly recommend doing at least a video call walkthrough of the apartment before you pay anything to know what it actually looks like besides the staged photos.

Some apartments have an amazing view of the lake and the promontory point so do ask about that during you call with a leasing agent. The south or east facing apartments in the south tower have a clear view of the lake.

The 172 public bus (safe and free with UChicago ID) and the UChicago’s Regents Park express shuttle both pick you up before the building and drop you off close to Harper Center (most of the full-time program classes and events happen here). The 172 bus literally drops you off at Harper Center and runs almost every 15mins.

The building is close to Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Dominos, and all sorts of nice spots for shopping and exploring.

Hyde Park is a safe neighborhood (objectively safer than living in the downtown) owing to UChicago PD’s presence.

The only significant downside is that you may have FOMO about not living in downtown where almost all Boothies live.

It has some average amenities, but I don't use them all that often. I'm most dissatisfied with the high rent and seeing a giant cockroach in my kitchen every other week. Plus they transition from cooling to heat way too early, and don't let you open your windows. So good luck being inside on an 80 degree day in the fall or spring. Very convenient place to live for a law student though.

Overall it has been a good experience; there were a lot of maintenance issues right when we moved in, but they were all resolved. Management is better than it sounds it used to be, but overall I think amenities-wise this is one of the best bang for your bucks in Hyde Park.

The facilities aren't perfect, but if anything is wrong, maintenance fixes it very quickly. It's not a "luxury" apartment, but it's pretty nice; a great deal (especially if you have roommates); it's right next to a bus stop going directly to the law school; and you'll live near your classmates/friends.
