Great place with great amenities, but south of the park

Cortona is a really nice place to live. The apartments are super spacious and the amenities are really solid. Super accommodating and pet friendly too! The drive is only 10 minutes max to campus, but you will need a car. The one thing is in my cohort, most people lived north of the park, so if you want to be in the middle of everyone, this may not be optimal for you.

Great apartment, okay location

We have loved living here- they are spacious, closets are huge, kitchen is open, and walls are fairly thick (so my neighbors can't hear my loud dog!). I can't say enough good things about management-- they are extremely responsive and SO helpful. Amenities are great as well. The dog park is a good size for an apartment complex, and the pool is big and heated. Also, it is gated with security officers. Conversely, the location is not the best. The immediate surrounding area is very safe and very close to other apartments and a large open, grassy area. However, it is not walkable by any measure.

Best Apt. I will Probably Ever Live In

I am going to cry when I leave this place because it is literally perfect, and I doubt I will ever find anything like it again for this price.

I Love Where I Live!

Modern apartments. Spacious floor plans with lots of storage and huge closets. There is a large pool, sitting pool and hot tub on a beautiful patio with a couple fire pits. The office staff is great. On site maintenance resolved issues quickly. Nice lobby for studying wth free coffee 24/7. Pool table, shuffle board and ping pong table. Security staff for after hours. Nice location next to a bunch of food and highway access. Pet friendly. Monthly happy hours and other events. I have no complaints! But not A lot of public transport nearby so car recommended. (P.S. If you check Cortona or it’s sister apt. Encore and decide to live please, PLEASE say Farrah Pruskauer referred you! 🙂)

Best Apartment in STL

The Cortona has exceeded my expectations. The community is friendly and mature. Many of the residents have dogs and cats. There is a mix of students (graduate), young professionals, and small families. I love the atmosphere and the amenities. The gym, pool, and common areas are extremely well maintained. Maintenance is always quick to respond, yet hardly ever needed because the facilities are in great condition. I love my one bedroom apartment floor plan and so does my kitty. Living at the Cortona has helped alleviate the stress of law school because I always go home to a nice apartment at the end of the day. I will definitely be renewing my lease!

Great place to live

Fantastic atmosphere to live. Leasing agents are nice and helpful. It's really community living. You get to know your neighbors and build friendships outside of law school.

Great Place for Student Housing

I love staying at the Cortona. The Management Team is always nice and prompt to deal with any concerns. It is 'luxury' apartment living, and they have to amenities to assure that. Their free gym is fully large and equipped, and it faces the beautiful pool patio. They have a couple fire pits and sitting areas outside for gatherings too (The official rule is that residents may only have 2 guests at the pool at a time though). The most important part for me is the safe neighborhood. It is in a nice area with lower crime rate compared to the other parts of st. Louis, so I feel comfortable walking to the yoga studio across the park at night. The night security and parking surveillance give me more assurance. Cortona also just installed new packaging security, to ensure each resident gets their package with no problems. It is not near many bars/ night life scene (that kinda comes along with being in a safer neighborhood though). There is ALOT of storage space.

Getting around Cheltenham

Cheltenham Reviews

The vibe is very graduate student/young professional with some young families around as well. The building tries to have a bunch of community events, and you're by a lot of shops with easy access to 64, but not a ton of cross-building community activities.
The neighborhood is okay! It is quiet, there is a little grassy area to walk around/hang out, and feels very safe at all hours. However, it is not walkable by any measure. Forest Park is across a busy highway. Dogtown is across a busy road. The Grove is too far to walk.
Average for St. Louis. Not great to go about at night. Not much to do, have to go east to CWE for food & nightlife. Apartment is away from the main roads, but the main roads are heavily trafficked and full of fast food as they connect two major highways.
Very very safe - have never felt at risk. There’s 24 hour security, the building itself has key access-only entry, and there’s no crime in the area anyways
Safe and just enough restaurants around.
There are some issues with crimes in the area, but that can be expected. There are good restaurants and bars around.
This is on the outskirts of dogtown. It is near other luxury apartments, with security that patrols the area. There is a yoga six studio, comet coffee shop, and Jimmy Johns within a 5 minute walk. The hampton is close as well. Public Transport is not so near though.
While there aren't many bars nearby, there is a coffeeshop, Jimmy Johns and a yoga studio within a 1 minute walk and can be seen from the front door. The place is right by Forest Park and the zoo.
