REVIEW

Pretty luxurious apartment, wonderful common areas. Rent is a bit too high and my view. Takes a while to feel safe in the area. Can find much cheaper options closer to university as well. Apartment ideal for car owners with no limitation to rent budget.

City View Review

Everyone is very nice and helpful. Whenever I have a problem, I submit a maintenance request and someone comes to fix the problem within a day or two. It's also in a really convenient location for school and there's a ton of amenities!

Great location for Duquesne Students

City view is in a great location for Duquesne students. I can walk to class in about 10 minutes. The building is also super secure with 24 hour front desk security.

The only draw back is that besides campus, there is not much else walkable from the building.

Best place for Duquesne students!

My fiancée is the leasing agent for City View, so maybe I'm biased, but this is the best apartment complex to live in for Duquesne students. It is only 3 blocks away from campus, so it is an easy walk, no matter the time of year. Also, for anyone working downtown while in school, it is also walking distance for there (I do it all the time). It has amazing perks too, such as a huge swimming pool, outdoor grilling, a large outdoor sports complex, beach volleyball court, a huge community center, a billiards room, convenient mailboxes, 24-hour security, a secured package reception room for anything that can't fit into your mailbox, a 24-hour Mac Lab (full of Mac computers for your use), indoor bicycle parking, and an indoor fitness center. Additionally, the apartments are very spacious and give an open feel due to the 6 ft tall windows in every room. It is also right next to the Penguins' arena. The entire complex is surrounded by an 8 ft tall fence with 24-hour video surveillance. Underneath the building, there are actually 3 sub-level floors of private parking for residents, which is some of the cheapest parking per month you will find downtown. Each parking spot is reserved then for only that resident. There is also a full laundry room in the bottom of the building, however, some of the apartments do have in-unit washing and drying. There are rooms anywhere from studios up to 4-bedroom apartments, all with great appliances. Walls are made of cement so sound barely travels! 24-hour maintenance on site! If you have someone visiting, there is a special gated parking lot on the complex for safe keeping of the car (as opposed to street parking). The Tribone Center for Clinical Legal Education is literally just down the street (maybe a 2-3 minute walk). The building also has a dog-walking path that goes around the building, but it is still inside of the large fence. The company is also in the process of building a big dog park within the grounds. There is almost no other building for this price that offers this amount of security and amenities in this area. Management is also extremely friendly! I play pickleball with the one manager all the time! They also take thier jobs seriously and are very quick to respond to any concern! Lastly, just down the street is also the Steel Plaza "T-Station", which is free within city limits and can take you the whole way to North Shore for free! Managment also throws resident events for anyone that wishes, such as bringing in food trucks, bingo nights, and other fun party-type activities. There is also a huge television by the billiards room which gets all regular channels if there is a big game or event on TV that someone wants to watch. These events and locations are also alcohol friendly byob.

Overall great place to live

The amenities here are great. We have a gym, pool, tennis courts, volleyball courts, and public entertainment space. Unfortunately we do not have in unit washers and dryers, but they are easily accessible in the laundry room located within the building. There is gated parking accessible for a fee. Pets also incur an additional fee. We have beautiful views of the city with six foot windows in each apartment. The building is very secure with all entrances requiring residents to scan a key fob. Security is also available.

Downtown Reviews

The downtown area is an area that is very easy to get public transportation. I didn't have to wait long to get the bus, so I was able to time it properly to get to campus. The problem here is that there are some homeless people who sometimes ask us for money, then another thing is that on weekend nights it is noisy outside the apartment because many people spend time around downtown at night.
The location is great; you can walk downtown and get to Market Square within 10 minutes. The T is also next door, so that is very convenient. However, over the past year, with the increased homeless population, the area is not safe anymore. Downtown has also gotten dirtier over the past year.
Right across the street from market square, down the road from a T station, a block away from the point. There is a church across the street that assists with unhoused people, but they never bother anyone.
Being on fifth and Forbes is not the cutest as compared to the cultural district but everything is within a 20 minute walk for restaurants and Ubers can get you anywhere within ten minutes.
Much safer than the news likes to say… i’ve never felt unsafe walking downtown day nor night. Just don’t walk down Smithfield at wee hours of the night and you will be great!
Downtown is a convenient place to live in relation to the school. The walk from the building to the school is less than 15 minutes.
In the middle of downtown. Close to some great restaurants and bars. About a 10 min walk to the Oakland-bound buses
The neighborhood seems to be very good. There are plenty of restaurants and it is close to campus.
