Gets the job done!
Adequate, old building. Many units privately owned. Staff and management have been helpful. No control over thermostat.

Good apartment community with the potential to become much better
River place south is a good apartment community to live in. The amenities are nice and the concierge is helpful. They could do better on a couple of fronts: sound insulation - sometimes the traffic can disturb sleep, and free parking for visitors (I shudder to invite friends who drive).
The views of the Potomac from my apartment are amazing.

River Place
Pretty good location and the front desk ladies are the best! A little expensive for outdated kitchen and bathroom. Management company is horrible. They refuse to turn on the AC/Heat until everyone complains. Overall pretty good living situation, will probably not stay longer than a year. Can easily get something completely new for just $100-$200 more.

Nice location, safe quiet space
River Place is a nice little community. Some young professionals and also many families with small children live around here, but never had any problems with crying babies or noisy children. Very safe, few sketchy characters around. Medium-sized outdoor pool, obv. open with limited hours. Parking is no problem, assigned spaces that you rent. If you have guests, then they are out of luck because there is no place for them to park and they could be booted or towed. Pretty poor set up that way. There is a small gym on site, some basics useful for a quick workout. Laundry in the basement, usually does not require coins, lots of space.
Good location, close enough to Georgetown and DC without being IN DC. About block and a half walk to the metro. Many fast food places and coffee shops around the area. Convenient CVS nearby. Great views. Sometimes management can be pretty snarky about things, but overall seem to be reasonable people. Customer service is just not their forte. Sometimes takes a while to pick up packages depending on who is working at the service desk. Do not expect a smile or greeting when you walk into the place. Beautiful entrance though. Overall, decent place to live in a very safe neighborhood at affordable price.

Apartments with a view and easy access to the city
Great views of Iwo Jima, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and Capital building across the Potomac. This apartment is the perfect place if you need an escape from medical school at the end of the day. Easy metro-accessible with a free shuttle to and from Georgetown that runs from 4am to 10pm. Newly refinished gym in the building. Chipotle, Chopt, Panera, and Frozen yogurt with in minutes walking. Safe, business-oriented neighborhood. Parking is an extra ~$100/month.

Really great value
So I really like the price I pay and the building I live in. But I wish that I could just move the entire complex to a better neighborhood!. Rosslyn is very quiet; it is a business district, so if you want to do anything (even go out to a restaurant) you have to go to another neighborhood.
But the building is amazing, it is close to the metro, the prices are cheap, and the amenities are stellar - so I stay in Rosslyn and just walk to the cooler neighborhoods (like Georgetown and Courthouse/Clarendon)

Good value in a convenient location
The River Place is in a nice location for Georgetown students. The location is good; walkable distance to supermarket, CVS, banks, Metro station and some restaurants. 10-min walk to GUTS station which is very convenient for commuting to main campus. The environment nearby also provides a comfortable living standard. Newly renovated gym and elevators.

About Rosslyn
Rosslyn Reviews
However, this has been a business district for ages. There is very little going on around here and many of the restaurants don’t even open on the weekends. But, that’s changing. So stay tuned!
(Also, I like living in Virginia because my vote counts for more here!)
If you have long legs, renting a bike is an option. If you are like me and 5'1'', renting a bike is an option for downhill rides.
There is a lot within walking distance in Rosslyn (think 20 min average from my apt): Barnes and Noble, shopping, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's (also on the Arlington loop shuttle from GU), public libraries, CVS, Target, Safeway, lots of restaurants.
Also close to dense populations of immigrant communities if you like Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean food.
Cons: Neighborhood shuts down after 5pm. Few restaurants in the neighborhood itself (this is getting better though). Concrete canyon effect because of the skyscrapers. Closest grocery store is an expensive Safeway.
