Great first apartment for a college student

Pretty happy!

Overall a great living situation. I haven’t had any issues with bugs or mice. The building is very clean and the units are well sound proofed. The maintenance team is awesome. Not wild about the management company and I had significant issues when I was trying to get a lease together, but that entire office has turned over now, so hopefully that will be less of an issue. It’s easy to get to campus and close to the park. My dog is very happy. I wish there was a better way to handle packages because I have had several stollen despite pretty good security in the building over all.

Great location, great price, great place!

I have only lived here for 3 months, but have loved my time here! I do wish there were any amenities, even a rooftop or small gym would help justify rent being as much as my friends studio across the street that has a gym and rooftop grill. It's super close to everything you could need though, so I love that!

Great location

This building on located on seven bus lines and about 15 min away from a red and green line stop. It’s a 40 min walk to campus or about 25 min via public transit. There is a nice rooftop and a great park right across the street (Meridian hill)

Excelent apt with no amenities

Excelent apartment at an unreal price. Got really lucky, it’s not common.

Affordable

3 management rating Reviewed by on

Affordable building, but has a persistent roach problem. Management needs to address package delivery -- you are unable to pick up your packages after 4PM or on weekends. Moreover, your packages that are delivered after-hours are left unattended and there isn't transparency about how they are handled. As of recently, crime has been on the rise in Columbia Heights.

Despite this building's problems, the price and rent-controlled aspect of this building have made me stick around.

Small, but great neighborhood

7 management rating Reviewed by on

The apartment is well kept, few/none pests or mold issues, nice amenities, and a really calm neighborhood. Extremely close to Blue/orange/silver line stop. Management is quick to address concerns, but are very observant and will know a lot about your life.

I like my building

4 management rating Reviewed by on

I like my apartment building. It’s a big complex but all of the staff are extremely friendly and kind. The rooftop is awesome and the gym space is big and not usually crowded. Having package pickup is very nice. It is a very old building so there can be some problems, but typically things are taken care of in one day. The location is unbeatable with the exception of not being near a metro stop.

Solid place but nothing fancy

7 management rating Reviewed by on

My apartment is a good size for a studio. There is a gym at the complex and it's small but it gets the job done. I've had no issues with the neighborhood. Only complaint is occasional pests but the apartment has been good about taking of it when I put in a request. Overall no complaints especially with the cost.

Good for the Price, But Not the Best

3 management rating Reviewed by on

Apartment was nice when I first moved in, but the property has declined over the years. I had a few mice in my apartment in the past (currently no mice). Residents throw trash and other garbage in the parking lot and in the grass. Residents do not clean up after their pets. Property is safe with no car break-ins. Property is also gated.

Great apartment and neighborhood

Great apartment building and great neighborhood. Somewhat expensive, but proximity to school, parks, restaurants, and metro are excellent. The building has a nice rooftop and most units have recently updated kitchens; building is well-maintained.

Affordable

5 management rating Reviewed by on

PROS: (1) Extremely affordable; (2) Rent controlled; (3) Quiet once inside your unit.

CONS: (1) No lobby attendant to secure packages over the weekend - they are left in the lobby; (2) You cannot pick up packages over the weekend (they are kept in a locked office) or after 4PM; (3) No security guard in evenings - a person sits in the lobby but that's it; and (4) Area is considered high crime.

Overall solid place to live, can walk home if I want to. Unfortunately there are some bug issues with spiders and roaches and rats. I haven’t had issues in my room but others have that issue. Otherwise it has been a good place to live and isn’t super expensive.
