Great Neighborhood to Find Excitement and Relaxation
Bethesda is located in Montgomery County, Maryland, north of the Potomac River. This lovely suburban neighborhood is just over 7 miles outside of Downtown DC, which gives it all the advantages of living nearby to great urban amenities. American University is just a few minutes south of the neighborhood, and multiple hospitals form a hub off MD-355, so many graduate and training professionals find convenience in the location.
Plenty of great grocery options, such as Whole Foods Market, Giant Food, Normans' Farm Market, and Trader Joe's, are spread throughout the area. Along with Trader Joe's, many bars, restaurants, and shopping are at the Bethesda Row shopping mall, conveniently located off MD-355. Entertainment is also easy to find at local theaters, art galleries, museums, and music venues. Despite all there is to do, Bethesda offers a relatively quiet atmosphere compared to DC, and there are a lot of outdoor spaces, including Little Falls Stream Valley Park and multiple golf clubs to escape and relax.

I am a single mother with an older dog that requires constant walking. I’ve never felt unsafe at any time of day or night. It’s a family friendly town for sure, with lots of events happening right downstairs from me!

Bainbridge Bethesda
I absolutely love living in Bethesda and I'm so glad I ended up living here. If you're wanting to live somewhere that's walkable, and where you don't need a car, then Bethesda just might be your place. I will note, it is more "city" esque so if you don't like that feel, then maybe it isn't the place for you (that's the only reason why I took off a point was because of the occasional noise, especially in the mornings). But I absolutely love the walkability to all the shops, restaurants, grocery stores, farmers market, etc. I really couldn't ask for much better.

Edgemont at Bethesda Metro
The neighborhood is a long way from campus (25 minutes on the metro), but it is very livable, with everything in quick driving distance. I love having a grocery store, a Target, and other suburban necessities within a 5-10 minute drive. This isn't possible if you don't have a car because the metro isn't walking distance, but there is a bus stop and it is bikeable. It's pretty quiet since the apartment itself is situated in the middle of an office park, which is nice. Plus, there is a very nice, upscale mall about 3/4 of a mile from the apartment. It's a good walk to get out and about on a weekend for a weekend lunch and some shopping.

Glens on Battery Lane
Safe area and close to many restaurants and shops as well as the metro and grocery store- Giant across the street. Trader Joes is close by as well along with Safeway and CVS. Main con would be parking for guests but there are public garages that are free after hours on weekdays and free all day on weekends.

Upstairs at Bethesda Row
Bethesda is a great place to live. Close to the metro, lots of restaurants, some bars, and some shopping! Still a few great, local mom and pop shops, although the bigger commercial stores are moving in quickly! ( Williams & Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Kate Spade, etc.)

Bainbridge Bethesda
The Metro is about a 10 minute walk, but the Circulator will take you there or to two grocery stores. There are so many restaurants, nail salons, and hair salons in this area. It's really not very noisy considering the fact that this is a busy downtown area.

The Palisades of Bethesda
Neighborhood is nice but it's very suburban (AKA you're not gonna find much in walking distance). There's a convenience store up the way in another apartment complex and a park nearby, as well as a trail. Lots of families and pets.

Bethesda Hill
Adjacent a large, inexpensive grocery store. A few restaurants in the immediate area. Relatively isolated from the main city. Other residents keep to themselves, producing a quiet atmosphere in the building.

Westwood Tower
Bethesda has everything you could need, supermarkets, cinema, shops, restaurants. The Woodmont triangle area is more reasonable than the Bethesda row area which can be a bit expensive.

Very much in a neighborhood, so near lots of family homes and fairly quiet. Not close to lots of restaurants or anything, but easy to go into downtown Bethesda if you want.

The Residences at Capital Crescent Trail
The neighborhood around The Metropolitan is fabulous. There is a grocery store across the street and many bars, restaurants, and additional shopping close by. Despite all this action, it is relatively quiet and there are a lot of outdoor spaces nearby. Bethesda is extremely safe and is a great place to raise a family. While there is an incredibly close Metro station and trains run frequently during rush hour, one downside is the infrequency of trains at night and on weekends. It is not the end of the world, but requires planning ahead and factoring lots of time for travel!

I would definitely recommend living in Bethesda. Everything I need is within walking distance and the city is safe enough that I don’t mind walking. There are lots of shops in the area and currently my apartment is only .5 miles from the Metro. Overall it is just a nice place to live.

The Seasons
There is often too much to do around the neighborhood - loads of great restaurants, from fast-casual to fine dining and everything in between. Great grocery options, as well as numerous individual sellers (bakeries, delis, butcher, fishmonger, etc.) Area is extremely safe and well-educated, but is pricey . Only con would be a slight lack of youth culture.

Bethesda is a great scene for up and coming young professionals. There is a plethora of walking distance restaurants and bars, and the happy hour specials are on point. We are walking distance to the red line metro, which goes right into the heart of DC. Dupont Circle is a 20 minute ride.

Bainbridge Bethesda
Free circulator bus stops right outside the apartment. It is a short walk to several bars and spots to meet up and there are several gyms in the area. Giant and Safeway are within walking distance, but also have parking options. Overall, very convenient and safe!

Much quieter than Bethesda row, and it feels much more like a neighborhood without sacrificing proximity to amazing restaurants. The main negative is the walking distance to the Metro, which is not bad at all if the weather is nice.

Safe area, 3 grocery stores in walking distance, lots of bars and restaurants, lots of stay-at-home moms spotted out and about during the working hours with their posh strollers filled with kids and only the best yoga clothes.
