Washington Square West —
8.9/10 Rating
(based on 52 neighborhood reviews)
I love this neighborhood! It's great for walking around, exploring the brick, tree-lined streets, and picking up a coffee or snack nearby. You are walking distance to dozens of bars and restaurants, including 13th St as well as South St. Within 20 minutes, you can walk to the quiet charming Queen Village neighborhood or the bustling Rittenhouse area and the shopping district. Even though it's close to Center City, you still get a calm, neighborhood feel.

You are basically in the same neighborhood as the UArts on-campus dorms. This makes you feel close to school and the activities of the university and lessens any worry about commute to school- such as lateness or delays. It is very safe, especially since you are in a building with a guard 24/7 and on a high floor.

Washington Square West is the perfect neighborhood to live in. It boasts a large park to enjoy the outdoors and has great restaurants and bars within walking distance. It's more residential and quieter than other neighborhoods but is extremely accessible to other parts of the city. It feels very safe in this area and has a mix of people who also love living here.

I love Washington Square. The park nearby truly is a joy for my dog and I. Everything is in walking distance: restaurants, night life, tourist spots, PATCO/Subway, parks, Urgent Care/Jefferson, etc. The closest grocery store is five blocks, so, no complaints. Lots of people are always out and about and I've never felt unsafe walking around the area. Old City & Penns Landing are nearby, and so is South St. as well as Center City. It's a wonderful location for any and all ages.

Great neighborhood in a great part of the city. Good restaurants, cafes, and attractions. Close to Reading Terminal Market and public transit. Very LGBTQ friendly. Walking distance from anything you could possibly want to do from day time activities to nightlife.

Slightly more residential than if you go a few blocks north, so a little quieter, but can still be noisy. However, it's great being a 10 minute walk to pretty much anything you could want to do.

This is the ideal area to live if you're going to Jefferson. Anywhere in Washington Square West will put you around a 5 minute walk to campus. It's incredibly safe and I love that everyone around you is a Jefferson employee. There's tons of bars and restaurants in the area, all within walking distance.

The building is situated between Pennsylvania Hospital and Jefferson so it is a relatively safe and clean neighborhood. This does mean there are occasional ambulances or helicopters going by, but generally it isn’t too noisy. The subway and grocery stores (Acme or Whole Foods) are about half a mile away, but the walk is pleasant.

Midtown village is a wonderful neighborhood. There are many restaurants, shops, bars, lounges all within walking distance. Public transportation is abundant and always on time, too. People here are generally friendly and the streets don't get too crowded as it does closer to Center City West. Everything you need is in this neighborhood!

I really enjoy this area. It's very close to lots of bars and restaurants, but not noisy at all. I used to live in Rittenhouse which is extremely nice but very loud and I often was kept up at night by cars honking and construction. The area now is extremely quiet at night. It's very safe and I feel fine walking by myself at night. It is close to reading terminal plus the grocery stores on south street. I like the proximity to the park as well!

Really close walking distance to all the attractions in Old Town, Reading Terminal Market, shopping on Market Street, good food on Walnut Street, cheap food in Chinatown, AND the subway is right there. On the downside, Market Street often has homeless people between 7th and 10th streets and feels a bit unsafe at night
