West Village's picturesque, cobblestone streets are lined with stylish designer boutiques, trendy cafes and restaurants, and hip nightlife. This primarily residential neighborhood is known for its colonial brownstones and walkups along its quaint, tree-lined streets. West Village is more sophisticated and affluent compared to other areas, but its prime shopping and fine dining are worth it. This area is great for someone new to the city. You're close to several train lines and right down the street from both NYU and Chelsea. You are surrounded by some of the city's best bars and comedy clubs. Not to mention, you're two blocks over from the Hudson if you want to go to a bar on a boat or run on the West Highway. If you're looking for the perfect blend of city and neighborhood, the West Village is ideal. You aren't surrounded by skyscrapers but have the perfect view of several.

The West Village is a 15 minute walk from Stern's campus. Tons of restaurants, bars, and great shopping. It's more mature (few undergraduates) than central Greenwich Village or the East Village. Beautiful running and bike paths along the West Side highway park are easily accessible and have incredible city views.
