Best budget apartment close to campus.
Atera is about 12 minutes from campus and you can avoid highways completely! Never have to worry about traffic on 75. The complex is in the coveted Oaklawn area, but is older than most complexes around here. This complex and and all of Oaklawn are extremely LGBTQ+ friendly. It’s walking distance to two Krogers and other shops, restaurants, and bars. This is the cheapest place to live close to campus, is gated, and the apartments are quite roomy. However, the area isn’t the best. That being said, I’ve never felt unsafe here.

Great location - a little pricy
We really enjoy our apartment - it is at a great location close to uptown, it is quiet even though it is along the highway, and it is safe. Our main complaints are the timeliness of maintenance as well as the ever increasing rent costs. If they could get this under control and be willing to negotiate especially when residents have been there for some time, it would be so much better.

Oak Lawn Reviews
This is a very active neighborhood with a bar scene on the weekends. There are homeless people who live around here, but they have never bothered me. While I wouldn't call it a dangerous neighborhood, there is probably a little more crime than some larger complexes such as the Village.
