Longfellow Lofts is pretty solid
Very responsive management. Noise is typical of a big apartment building (people walking with shoes on/moving furniture on floor above is audible) but for a complex with as many dogs as it has, pretty quiet overall. Apartment itself is lovely, I'm in the modern building and it has big windows, was very clean upon move-in, everything worked. All units have AC/heating and I believe all have garbage disposal and in-unit washer and dryer. Parking is an additional ~$100 depending on type. Only downside is that food delivery services almost never know where to deliver the food since the mail room/lobby is inside the courtyard and not accessible directly from the street.

Huge apt, very close to campus
I've enjoyed my time at Longfellow Lofts so far. The complex is made up of two buildings: one is a historic school that's been converted into apartments and the other (the building I'm in) is the newer building built behind the school. There aren't really any amenities, but it's close to campus, quiet, and the residents are mature (i.e. there aren't any rowdy undergrad parties here). There's an outdoor grilling area in the central courtyard that's decently active in the summer and a nice gardening area. The management team's been great, too.

Excellent
Very comfortable and spacious. 15 minutes away from the law school (walking). Has unique apartments on the historic side, but the modern side is very nice too. The building is very well maintained, and so are the appliances. Landlords are very responsive and helpful. I believe it is mostly graduate students living here. The safety seems good (especially for packages). The apartment has AC, in-unit washer and dryer, and a dishwasher.

Diminishing Quality
This apartment is good and is in a pretty good location to the business school. My husband and I have lived there for just over a year and when we first moved in, the property was clean, very well taken care of, and our neighbors were pretty quiet. Within the past 6 months however, we've noticed the common areas (hall ways, outdoor spaces, etc.) getting dirtier and dirtier and remaining that way for longer periods of time. We've also noticed that more of the moving carts are getting broken and not being put back in the proper areas for use. I have also noticed more and more dog excrement on the grassy areas.

Clean, quiet, and good location
I've lived at Longfellow Lofts for 1.5 years now, first in a 1-bedroom, 1-bath and now in a 2-bed, 2-bath; both apartments have been great in terms of space, as well as quiet and respectful neighbors. I like the location because it's only a 0.5 mile walk to the business school and gym (The Nick), and just a couple blocks away from Regent Street where the GBA tailgates are normally held. It is not the place to live if you are looking for nightlife right outside your front door (look to the Capital/State Street area for that) - it is the place to live if you're looking for a nice, quiet place to live within walking distance of campus, including Camp Randall and the Kohl Center. There are parking garage spaces available for approximately $160/month; street parking is generally not available, but there is a bus stop at the end of the block. There have been some growing pains with the property manager as he is still relatively new (he took over earlier this year) and the previous manager was exceptional...hopefully that improves. Maintenance has been consistently easy to request and timely (during the few times I've needed something fixed). Overall it's a little pricey in my opinion, but I think it's worth it assuming the location is right for you.

Longfellow Lofts
Updated, quiet apartment in a relatively quiet part of town. Close walk to school. Apartment is very secure and clean. Manager is on premises and they have in-house handy person. Can pay rent and submit work requests online.
