Excellent Accomodations

My wife and I renewed an extended lease for our 2BD/2BA 1000sqft apartment this year. We're very happy with our situation overall since we wanted a large space with a balcony for our dog and wanted a place with great views and up-to-date appliances. This complex was built in 2007, situated above the Roosevelt Collection Shops, in which there is a few clothing stores, some gyms, a doctor's offense, a coffee shop, and soon to be 3 restaurants.

Pros: Flexible lease options up to 15 months. Easy-to-use interface for making service requests, paying rent, and interacting with neighbors. Very responsive maintenance staff - issues are usually corrected on the same day in a matter of hours. Package room will send out UPS/FedEx packages and deliver packages directly to your apartment. Rooftop patio area and clubhouse are readily available. Free espresso in the morning. Exclusive resident deals and parties as well as discounted movie tickets. 10min walk to the Roosevelt CTA station and a bus stop for the 12/18 in front of the complex. Gym on the top floor is rarely crowded, has some free weights, treadmills, and ellipticals. There's also a floor space with a screen for recorded yoga and fitness classes.

Cons: $250 per month for parking. Overnight parking for guests is $18. Visitors get only the standard 2 hour parking validation. Rent increase of 10% year-over-year. Very little storage space. Large bathrooms give way to very small bedrooms.

After living here for 4 years

I have to say Roosevelt is a gem in the South Loop. The colmplex is gorgeous and there’s so much life and activity all around us. The location is perfect for us since we are close to river north and close to the highway. The community is our favorite.

Roosevelt Collection

All the stops in one place. Parking, shopping, various exercise studios, gym, entertainment room, rooftops, plaza & garden area...and not to mention nice apartments. The Roosevelt Collection has many amendities in an up and coming area.
Very pleased with where I live, and the resources to help make this place home. The maintenance staff has also been helpful with several projects.

Love the lofts at Roosevelt collection

This apartment building is great! Staff is very friendly, management is attentive, and the finishes in the apartments are beautiful. Living in a mall is a plus! Close to the train. Neighborhood is growing with lots of great restaurants nearby. Overall, a great experience.

Amazing place to live

It is a very convenient place in the loop for work or fun. It is bustling with food, shopping and a movie theater. The apartment itself is much nicer than most rentals in this price range. The finishes are very nice and the staff could not be nicer. The only complaints would be that the hallways between apartments are not well temperature controlled and can get very hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Can also get very loud, especially on weekends when there are a lot of people in the mall or coming from the movies. Parking for residents and guests is very expensive with no alternatives.

South Loop Reviews

As a single woman it was very important for me to live in an area that was safe given that the medical school schedule will require me to come home at night. Also it gives me great peace of mind to live in a building with doormen 24/7 in case anything were to happen. However, this has come at at a great cost.
Quite a number of nice bars and restaurants within walking distance. Groceries also (Target, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods about 15 minutes by foot; small local shop about 3 mins). Bus stop to go to the university about 10 mins away (number 2, Hyde Park Express).
I really like South Loop. It is definitely an older crowd (young 30s and up) which suited me better - it has families and schools but still feels close to downtown which I really enjoy. Lots going on close by and lots of grocery stores too.
South Loop is quieter than the Loop, but you will get more space. Ideal for parents, people with partners that work remotely, or people looking for more space for their money. Outside of Bears games, has far fewer tourists to deal with than the Loop.
Across Michigan Ave from Grant Park. 10-minute walk from the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, and Soldier Field.
Roosevelt station is very close by and incredibly convenient if you don't mind taking the train or buses, but it is a transit hub, so expect increased numbers and variety of people.
Not far from the rest of the Loop, and you can still easily make your way north for study groups and social events.
I literally love living in the south loop. I can walk practically anywhere
less of a tourist trap than streeterville, still downtown atmosphere. There's a cozy little neighborhood full of townhouses that's nice for a walk.
Pros: Central to all major forms of transport, proximity to downtown, museums, and activities

Cons: Proximity to all major inbound train tracks increases the noise level. Proximity to Roosevelt Road which is high-traffic, treeless, and not bike-friendly.
It's a fine location. Not great, not horrible. I like a lot of other neighborhoods better but this is closer to school.
