Midwest Court

Clean, large apartments newly renovated with great appliances and large rooms. Pricey building but it’s a 10 minute walk to Lincoln Center campus. One could hypothetically flex our apartment to make it 3 roommates.

Good apartment

Have not had any issues with the apartment. The doormen are friendly and helpful. Maintenance is quick if needed. Have never had issues with bugs or mice. Would recommend the apartment complex to friends. Expensive but that's New York for you. Also love the amazing rooftop - nice views of the city and a grill.

Great building with amazing rooftop

Clean, new building with nice lobby. Great view from the rooftop. Common areas and gym could be renovated/updated.

Nice staff and safe building. Elderly couples or late 30-professionals.

Close to trendy restaurants and bars. Nice but expensive grocery store close by.

Pet friendly

Great Value in a Great Building

I live in a duplex with my roommate and we got a great value! We pay less than we did for a much smaller walk-up in West Village and we get a doorman, gym and laundry! The building is very classy and management is great. They renovated our unit right before moving in and have been extremely responsive to anything we have said. Would recommend if you're willing to live 1.5 avenues from the nearest subway!

About Hell's Kitchen

Not just a home for learning and practicing actors, Hell's Kitchen is also loved by young professionals, performing artists, and students. A big perk of this neighborhood is the convenience - walking distance to subway and train stops, nearby grocery stores, and close to Fordham and NYU. There are m...

Hell's Kitchen Reviews

Hell's Kitchen is full of restaurants. It's mostly very safe, but I typically avoid the edges (near Port Authority). It's close to Times Square, but it's very easy to avoid. Hell's Kitchen is pretty central so it's easy to get all over the city, and there are a lot of transit options (especially on 8th avenue).
Hell’s Kitchen has some rough edges, but the restaurant scene is terrific and decent deals on apartments. Being so close to 9th ave rocks, and 10th ave is definitely up-and-coming. there aren’t a lot of sternies nearby (most of them are in the village) but a handful live nearby. The reasons to like HK are the neighborhood vibe, the restaurant scene, and the proximity to Central Park. Downside is mostly distance from campus, depending on how close you live to the subway.
Hell's Kitchen has lots of grocery stores, bars, and restaurants, although it lacks some of the charm of other neighborhoods. It's possible to find new apartments here that are a good value. It's a relatively lively neighborhood. My only complaint is the lack of gyms and subway stations in the neighborhood.
PROS
* Easily accessible from a majority of transit hubs.
* Tremendous investment on the part of private and public entities, so there's a lot of development and renewarl.
* Proximity to Javits Center, Penn Station, and Time Square make it heavily policed and quite safe.

CONS
* NOISE--from the Lincoln Tunnel, the Javits, the River, the tourists, but above all else the construction
* Proximity to Javits Center, Penn Station, and Time Square can suck the character out of the location. Don't move here if you're looking to easily find a neighborhood with it's own personality (your local coffee place is going to be Starbucks and your local Italian place is going to be a hike if you want anything other than Sbarro/Olive Garden).
Midtown West has a vibrant bar and restaurant scene, and most of it is just far enough away from Times Square (past 8th Ave, anyway) to not attract tourists. Hell's Kitchen, in particular, has an amazing selection of places to eat with mostly smaller restaurants and bars. For those who want mega parties, Pacha and Hudson Terrace are by the river.

Transportation, particularly up and down the West Side and to FiDi is incredibly easy, and if you live near 42nd St, almost every area is a snap to get to.
There are some good restaurants and bars, but overall it's not terribly exciting. Transit on A/C/E is pretty good, but getting to east side is difficult if you need to. Getting to west village is a breeze though.
We like the neighborhood, it is a little closer to midtown west than Hell's kitchen though. Lots of bars and good places to eat on ninth ave and only a fifteen minute walk to campus.
Pro: Great places to eat, close to multiple transit lines, and Broadway shows.

Con: Can be loud and tourist heavy during certain hours.
