Ballston Place reviews and highlights
- it's a great location with all the amenities you could want
- staff are very polite
- two blocks from two different metro stops
Great!
My apartment has big beautiful windows that allow lots of sunlight and fresh air. The floor plan is very spacious. I have three closets and plenty of storage. I have an in-unit washer/dryer which has been extremely helpful throughout the semester. The apartment complex is pet friendly, but the units are sound-proofed pretty well.
The complex has a 24hr concierge. Maintenance is extremely nice and responsive. I've had no problems with safety and they have a great system for package deliveries. Management made the move-in process so easy. They're quick to respond and take your concerns very seriously. I'm currently struggling with excessive noise from the unit directly above me. Management has taken everything very seriously and we're working on resolving the issue.
The complex also rents out a guest suite to visiting guests of residents. I've booked it many times because my family visits quite often. The price for the suite is very reasonable and greatly appreciated on my end because hosting family while in school is pretty stressful.
The complex is about a six minute walk away from Mason Square. It's very close to Ballston Quarter, which has plenty of cafe's, restaurants, and gyms. It's also very close to three parks and a public library. It's also a couple blocks away from the Virginia Square metro station which is really nice.
The apartment has a small 24 hr gym, the pool and clubroom are nice to hang out with friends,

Great place to live while in school, roommate(s) recommended
Ballston Place is just down the street from the law school, so I’m able to walk to class and I have easy metro access. Because of the location, I didn’t need my car for the first year that I lived in NOVA and was able to save on parking/gas/local registration tax/etc. I used to walk to the grocery store (with a grocery cart). The surrounding Ballston neighborhood is also filled with restaurants, coffee shops, a park, a library, and a shopping center (Ballston Exchange) nearby - all walkable.
While the apartments are pricey (I was shocked at the cost of housing when I moved here), they are doable (for NOVA standards) if you have a roommate. The floor plans are spacious and the most sensible (few awkward corners/weird unusable spaces/etc) compared to other apartments in the area. The apartments also have large windows, so there’s lots of natural light- this is also better than most apartments in the area.
Parking is in an access-restricted covered garage, and the apartment is pet-friendly. Maintenance is great and very responsive; they will typically come out to fix issues within a day (or sooner if urgent). The front desk is generally open 24/7. Most packages are picked up through Amazon lockers, which is convenient.
Housing was tough for me to figure out when I moved here, so I hope this is helpful!

Ballston Place Review
My time at Ballston Place has been great! The 10 minute walk to the GMU Arlington campus is incredibly convenient and the Apartment layout has been very valuable an accommodating to a law student . Some of the apartment requires updating, but it is good value for the price.

Love our Apt
Have lived here for 3 years now and really love the building (even through a management change). Close to lots of transit, parking is low cost for the area ($70/month). When we lived in a 1 bed 1 bath it was $1800 700 sq feet and now we live in a 1 bed w/ den 1.5 bath almost 1000 sq feet for $2400. They are very pet friendly, the rare maintenance issues are fixed quickly and well. We're getting Amazon lockers in the building, and the concierge holds all our packages currently. They're also renovating the pool area for next summer (2020).

Great place to live
I really enjoy having a front desk that collects our packages for us and is responsive when we call about issue. They make the building feel very safe
The building is clean, homey, and modern (but not too modern). I also love our pool!

Great for quiet living
No pests problem, never hear neighbors or landlord, but literally got a noise complaint the first night I moved in for playing moderately loud music at 9p on a Friday

Mediocre living conditions
Water pressure isn't that great, water isn't hot enough. I will try to look for another apartment complex next year

Best Managed Building
This Avalon is the most amazing building, everyone who works there is lovely. If we even have an issue it is fixed with in the day. Plus they have gas stoves!

Great Place to Live Very Pet Friednly
The building is a little older than the new ones in the neighborhood which makes rent a little more reasonable. It's a great location with all the amenities you could want pool, gym, club room. Not all residents though are great about cleaning up after their pets.
