Overall satisfied
This is the cheapest 1b1b in this area I could possibly find. There were some issues regarding bathtub sink and coaches, but overall I am satisfied.

Leasing office
It's a really old apartment, and the leasing office is not efficient at all

Good Location and General Value
One of the Cheaper places that you can live alone. Excellent location right next to campus, a bus stop, and local restaurants. Limited grocery access nearby, but that is common to much of the area. Although there are minor flaws, the apartment is fully functional, especially for just a year or two, and is larger than some more expensive studios

Good price and location, but needs serious pest control.
You can’t beat the price or location. That being said, there are some serious pest issues that never seem to resolve and there isn’t security on the premises.

It's Fine
Location: 10/10 extremely convenient. Nearby Division St can be loud (free concerts/people-watching entertainment).
Amenities: Very livable. Laundry in the basement. AC/heat functional. Minimalist fitness room. Pool table. Swimming pool access down the street.
Living space: Small. Walls aren't too thin. Kitchen is tiny. Frustrating if you like to cook or have company.
Cleanliness: I get about one small roach a month on average.
Security: Minimal. People tailgate in sometimes. You can lock your door though.
Maintenance: Generally responsive.
Other: Read the lease in detail, it's a doozy

Noisy, Roaches, and the Cheapest in Midtown
Are you a broke law student intent on living by yourself (with the company of many many friendly roaches)? Do you lack a trust fund and/or daddy's/mommy's money to buy you a house or apartment, unlike your luckier law school friends? Do you lack a car? Do you just love noise like late thirties women sporting fake tans and clearly died (dyed) blonde hair screaming on the woo-hoo buses, or the spotlessly clean MTA buses, or tow/garbage trucks at 12:30 AM?
Look no further than the Barbizon! It's the cheapest place that's walkable to the law school and still costs you a fat 1300+ including utilities and internet (don't even get me started on the water, they add like 10 different mandatory surcharges, it is ridiculous).
But hey, at least they got the homeless people out of the basement. God knows I'll be homeless soon with the way rent is increasing. Not to mention the law school tuition.
Amazing view of the Aertson at night so you get to be jealous of people rich enough to live there. That's if you're lucky.
The management is actually somewhat responsive though. But man do they squeeze you for your last drops of money.

Basic but Affordable
The apartments are no-frills but safe much less expensive than surrounding buildings. Management is responsive when needed. The location can't be beat if you are a Vandy student.

Barbizon Apartments
Great location - 2 minute walk from the law school. However, the apartment itself seems like it hasn't been updated since the 90s. The finishes are very outdated--brown carpeting, cheap countertop, white appliances, etc. Things are frequently falling apart/requiring maintenance.

It’s only a little dingy
Pros: the property management is responsive and willing to fix things if you report them broken; the location is excellent; cost is low for the area.
Cons: tiny kitchen; useless “fitness room”; building has cockroaches and the pest control service is ineffective (so mitigation is up to you); $75 lockout fee applies even if it’s not your fault you got locked out (not evident from reading the lease). Also Broadway can be loud at night.
If you don’t need a fancy place with a lot of perks, or a lot of space, and if you don’t cook much, Barbizon is fine. The location made it worth it for my first year in Nashville, but I might not renew.

Barbizon Apartments
My unit is fine, nothing fancy but provides me with basic, functioning necessities. The common areas can get quite dirty and start smelling from trash piling up. They have sent out reminders not to leave trash in the common areas, but residents still do and maintenance maybe comes to clean up once a week. There was a spill (of some unknown dark substance) down the back stairs for months before it was cleaned up. The elevator has been broken for at least 6 weeks now. I placed a ticket in for repair and it was closed by maintenance without ever being addressed. I feel I pay a lot in rent for what I get.
